Reporting to the HF Programs Director, the Health and Fitness Programs Supervisor (Group Fitness) provides direct leadership to execute all group fitness activities in the facility including group fitness programs and volunteer development in group fitness. The Supervisor provides superior experience to our members in the General Membership areas. Implementing our Member Insight Strategy and using our Membership Involvement Model, identifies initiatives to increase Membership on Roll, Retention, Satisfaction, and Philanthropic contributions in our Group Fitness Programs. The Supervisor must ensure that all members of this team are proactive in their ability to stay abreast of leading trends in health and fitness and demonstrate exceptional relationship building skills. The recruitment, development, certification, retention and deployment of a team of volunteers to work in this area is also a major focus of this department, as well as increased class offerings.

**In this role, you will**:

- Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates programs within the Association’s Membership Services Plan, which will attract and retain the diverse membership of the centre.
- Provides direct program leadership to a variety of group program areas including group fitness classes and small group training including TRX, Aqua-Fit and Pre-Choreographed based classes for the equivalent of 60-70% of scheduled shifts.
- Provides direct leadership as a YMCA Trainer in Fitness in delivering the YMCA Fitness Leader Certification and works towards the YMCA Training Educator Level.
- Assists Director, Adult Programs with recruiting, supervising and developing effective staff and volunteer teams within the department.
- Assists Director, Adult Programs in development and management of all performance indicators and standards including those related to group fitness, retention and YMCA Priority Sam standards.
- Provides leadership and support as a member of the Centre’s senior staff team. Acts as an effective Service Leader.
- Participates in task groups, special assignments and opportunities that further the Association mission, vision and strategic initiatives including the Core Service Functional Group.
- Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association. Represents the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner.
- Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
- Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.

**You bring**:

- Diploma or Degree in Recreation Leadership, Kinesiology, Physical Education or related field preferred
- Significant experience teaching variety of group fitness classes, including CycleFit, MuscleFit, CardioFit and Yoga
- YMCA certification in Group Fitness an asset
- Proficiency in Aquatic Fitness, Adult Programs, and Choreography/Dance Based and Fusion classes an asset
- YMCA Trainer certification an asset
- Previous experience in development and implementation of new programs an asset
- Current First Aid and CPR certification; AED training/certification an asset
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills developed through progressively responsible experience in a supervisory role in group fitness programs; ability to encourage, motivate staff and volunteers, acknowledge and appreciate contributions
- Well developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
- Ability to speak multiple languages an asset
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
