**Role Responsibilities**:
Responsible for the overall delivery of regional construction and rehabilitation programs including the allocation of resources, planning, scheduling and delivery. Major and complex projects such as interchange construction are included in these programs. In addition, contributes to the priority setting of related programs and manages the Region's gravel resources and environmental work plans.

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Manage the delivery of the Region's capital construction and highway rehabilitation and implementing a multitude of processes to the delivery stage and final completion of projects.
- Accountable to engage best-value consultants and managing them in an effective manner - request for proposals/selection/technical standards/planning/ constructability/value engineering/monitoring budgets/controls/ performance evaluations.
- Accountable for the overall management of the Region's gravel resources and environmental work plans.
- As per the department's Authority matrix: reviews/approves/awards contracts, utility agreements, services.
- Agreements, consultant agreements, contractual changes, overruns, etc.
- Provide input into construction standards and specifications, policies and programs through committee membership.

**Qualifications**:
A university degree in a related field, supplemented and at least six years of related experience is required.

**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Required**:

- B.Sc. in Civil Engineering with 6 or more years of directly related experience.
- Sound knowledge of roadway planning or programming, and related experience in highway design, construction, or contract administration.
- Extensive supervisory skills in a technical environment.
- Managing employees, administering programs, dealing with municipal councils, consultants, elected officials and the public including special interest groups.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Eligibility for membership in APEGA.

- High level of intensity for the coordination of all aspects of capital construction and municipal partnership.
