Advanced Prototyping Lead

Richmond, Canada Corvus Energy Full time

**Position Summary**

Reporting to the Director, Technical Product Management, the Advanced Prototyping Lead is responsible for supervising the Advanced Prototyping (“AP”) team, providing technical oversight of tests, and managing the prototyping machine shop.

The AP team is responsible for prototype part creation, informing part design and manufacturability which in turn de-risks future products. The team philosophy is based on fast-failure learnings using prototype hardware. This team calls for maximum creativity and will more often be defining tests than following an established test standard. Note that these are early-stage tests in order to tease out technical risk and increase Technology Readiness Level (“TRL”) of the products.

- Prioritize tests based on urgency and hardware availability
- Help prioritize tests, populate the sprints, and manage the backlog
- Assist in developing processes for manufacturing and design-for-manufacturing.
- Analyze test data/results and iterate on test plans as needed in order to identify and reduce risk.
- Own tests and create test plans/reports (as time allows)
- Provide feedback on findings to project team and designers
- Areas of focus include equipment manufacturability, electrical performance, battery charge/discharge performance, heat rejection, thermal management, plumbing systems, vibration and destructive testing.

**Work Experience and Qualifications**
- BASc/BEng in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent (Engineering Technologists with extensive experience also encouraged to apply).
- 6+ years’ experience designing, developing, manufacturing and/or testing energy storage systems.
- Proven hands-on skills and mechanical assembly/troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with Sprint-based task management.
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary engineering team
- Previous experience supervising technical team members is an asset
- Experience with Li-ion batteries and chemistry is an asset
- Machine shop (CNC) experience is an asset.

**We Offer**

- To take part in the green shift for the ocean space
- International work environment and multidisciplinary team collaboration
- Competitive salary and benefits
- International career opportunities

**Personal Qualifications**:

- Strong decision making, critical thinking, and analysis skills
- Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills

**Salary Range**

$86,000 to $96,000 CDN per year
