**Administrative Assistant, Environment and Climate Change**

**Location**: Métis Nation of Alberta Secondary Head Office Location (11821 123 St, Edmonton, AB)

**Position Status**: One (1) Full Time (40 hrs per week), Temporary (until November 15, 2024)

**Key Responsibilities**
- Ensure that administrative activities are delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
- Work cooperatively with all team members to support the achievement of work plan activities, and actively participate in the department’s team meeting and planning sessions.
- Assist in planning, organizing, coordinating, and implementing various operational programs.
- Enter and process invoices with accuracy.
- Perform clerical functions such as, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings for department staff or designates.
- Prepare, distribute, and appropriately file meeting agendas, records, and meeting minutes.
- Prepare and complete internal and external correspondence, including legal documents, forms, letters, reports, presentations, and other documents.
- Assist with administration of MNA Provincial events & programs and coordinate and complete special projects.
- Order supplies for department programming and events.
- Book travel accommodations.
- Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, citizens, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Maintain a high level of cultural sensitivity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all interactions and when handling sensitive documents.
- Assist with other duties as required or assigned.

**Skills and Competencies**
- Recognized strength in supporting teams; providing administrative and clerical support in a way that aligns with, and adds to, organizational capacity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Strong planning and organizational skills, with an ability to organize and prioritize daily tasks and long-term objectives.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Flexible and adaptable, with an ability to switch between multiple priorities.
- Ability to work with and convey messages to different audiences.
- Political and cultural sensitivity.
- Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An in-depth understanding of the MNA and Métis culture/rights is an asset.

**Qualifications**
- Education in an Administrative Assistant program or related program is preferred.
- 1-2 years’ related experience in an Administrative Assistant role is an asset. School or volunteer experience will be considered.
- Knowledge and/or experience in environment, climate change, and sustainability is an asset.

**Other Requirements**
- Availability to work in office Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends, on occasion, and with notice.
- Travel within Alberta is a requirement.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
