Environment Health and Safety Supervisor

Working with Richardson opens the door to a work of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for a Supervisor, EH&S at our North Vancouver, BC location.
**Responsibilities**:
- Oversee and provide leadership to the Joint Health & Safety Committee and on all plant health and safety initiatives such as safe work procedures, hazard identification and risk assessment, management of incident investigations, monthly plant inspections and related follow up action, regulatory and other reporting requirements, promote awareness of health and safety, and analyze and report on health and safety program for management planning purposes and to measure effectiveness of the program.- Identify and recommend health and safety training needs by developing an annual training plan and programs, and maintaining related training records. Conduct training sessions, or where necessary source and arrange for external instructors. Conduct new hire orientation sessions and contractor orientations tracking for verification purposes. Facilitate job observation activities.- Coordinate the design and implementation of individual return to work plans for both workplace injuries and non-occupational injuries and illnesses to ensure a successful return to work. Maintain records and statistics to measure disability management program effectiveness. Follow up with employees and health care providers.-
- Liaise with federal and provincial OHS and other regulatory officials, ensuring compliance with related requirements and regulations as well as Worksafe BC requirements and regulations. Ensure compliance with applicable Richardson health and safety corporate policies and procedures.- Responsibility to maintain all first aid and related equipment. Be actively involved in first aid emergencies.- Liaise with environmental government agencies and auditors and oversee the development and compliance with environmental programs, requirements, policies and initiatives. Review and participate in ongoing emergency response initiatives and the development of Standard Operation Procedures.- Establishes a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations. Support and facilitate change required for continuous improvement in the workplace.- Adhere to all prescribed Regulatory and Company requirements for Occupational Health and Safety, Food Safety, HACCP, Sanitation and GMP’s.- Communicate local program/regulatory/corporate requirements effectively to all Terminal and Corporate departments as applicable.- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience & Education/Training- Degree in Business Administration or related college or technical school certification supplemented with two years related experience is an asset. A combination of education and experience would be considered.- Demonstrated history of safe work practices and have a safe work record, satisfactory attendance, and be able to perform each essential duty adequately.- Must possess Emergency First Aid Certificate.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Leadership abilities are a must, together with strong written and verbal communication skills and reasoning ability.- Understanding of applicable workplace, health and safety regulations and the ability to review and interpret regulations and legislation to solve practical problems as they pertain to a workplace health, safety and environment.- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.- Intermediate to advanced computer skills required.- Ability to work and manage within a unionized environment.
