**Vaccine Preventable Diseases Coordinator**:
The Approaches to Community Wellbeing is a regional resource to 31 First Nations communities. The Approaches to Community Wellbeing provides expertise, support, services, and programming in community wellbeing (public health) to the region. The program also supports communities in the development, implementation, and monitoring of their own Approaches to Community Wellbeing.

The Vaccine Preventable Diseases Coordinator will support the coordination of ongoing Operation Remote Immunity to increase uptake in COVID-19 vaccines. They will also coordinate annual flu vaccine campaigns and work to promote routine immunizations.

The Vaccine Preventable Diseases Coordinator will be accountable to the Preventing Infectious Diseases Manager.

This position will be based in Sioux Lookout, Ontario.

The annual salary range for this position is $71,442 to $91,949 based upon 1,820 hours/year.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Current Registration with the College of Nurses in Ontario
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an approved University with identifiable community health nursing content
- Project Management certificate or courses

**KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY**:

- Understanding of Public Health (Community Wellbeing) Systems and First Nations health systems
- Understanding of the history and jurisdictional issues that impact First Nations health
- Understanding of contextual factors influencing First Nations community wellbeing (public health), including the social determinants of health
- Understanding of First Nations cultural values and norms
- Previous project management experience
- Previous experience providing immunizations and/or knowledge of routine immunizations (and schedules), influenza vaccine, and COVID-19 vaccines
- Experience working both independently and in a collaborative team environment is essential
- Proficiency in computer and word processing skills
- Impeccable organizational skills
- Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects within the Sioux Lookout area an asset
- Must be willing to travel and work irregular hours
- Must be willing to travel to remote First Nations communities

**RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES**:

- Coordinate Operation Remote Immunity initiatives by working with partners and participating in planning calls to outline partner roles and responsibilities
- Develop the schedules for operation remote immunity initiatives, giving consideration to the location of planes and teams and the time required in each community
- Work with ACW’s health promotion teams to ensure that communities have access to the materials they need and are connected with personnel to support them in health promotion efforts
- Work with communities in planning clinic operations
- Maintain a list of vaccine coordinators at the community level, along with other key contacts
- Advise community on requirements for clinic location and receive confirmation of venue
- Support communities in requesting Rangers, if required
- Confirming with Nursing stations that the supplies and vaccine have arrived in advance of the clinic
- Advising community on clinic set up
- Ensuring ground transportation for the vaccine team and home visits is secured and communicated to the team lead
- Accommodations are secured if required, or a contingency plan is in place if the team is weathered in
- Staff are assigned for clinic operations
- Answer questions community members have about clinic operations
- Coordinate, with internal and external partners, an annual influenza campaign including
- Regional health promotion initiatives
- Support community-level campaigns
- Advertising how individuals can access the influenza vaccine
- Develop, in collaboration with Raising our Children and Indigenous Services Canada, a strategy to increase uptake of routine childhood immunizations. This may include, but not limited to:

- Clinic strategies
- Health Promotion campaigns
- Community engagement
- Work with Roots for Community Wellbeing team to monitor immunization coverage rates
- As ACW develops, this position will develop and provide expertise on immunizations programming
