**Status**: Full time permanent
**Flexible Work Arrangements Available**: Full-time remote working is available due to construction within our building. In the future, post renovation, this role will require some onsite work on a hybrid basis (25% 4-5 days a month in site).
**The Opportunity**:
We are seeking an experienced and quality focused leader for the position of VP, Group Claims, Administration. This role is responsible for the overall strategy and performance of the Group Claims, Administration business units with a key focus on creating the strategic direction of the Company as it pertains to claims management and administration. This includes ongoing review, assessment, and improvement of operational procedures, medical models, claims management and customer service standards, taking into account claims trends, medical advances, evolving customer expectations and competitor practices.
What you’ll do
- Provide leadership for the development of best practices and specific claim management and administration strategies aimed at delivering exceptional service experiences for clients and their plan members
- Recruit, develop and retain skilled, knowledgeable and empowered employees
- Oversee three direct reports leading the group health and dental claims, customer care centre, special investigation unit, life, and disability teams, administration and myFlex
- Meet or exceed annual claim/loss ratios and service standards to ensure earning targets and customer needs are achieved
- Resolve escalated plan member, plan sponsor and advisor concerns
- Participate in the review and evolution of products, services and plan designs to ensure competitiveness within our marketplace
- Contribute to business development activities by participating in advisor & client presentations; training others to present our claims approaches effectively; and contributing to product development efforts.
- As a member of the Group leadership team, participate in the development of division strategy and annual plans and help prioritize planned and unplanned initiatives
- Identify and prioritize key IT initiatives to support innovation and respond to customer demands including the sponsorship of key projects.
- Facilitate ongoing process improvement projects to drive optimum efficiency in core operations
- Participate on internal strategic steering committees focused on the development of BI capabilities and data management enhancement
**What you’ll need**:
- 10+ years of group claims experience. Experience across all benefits would be an asset
- Demonstrated people leadership skills, including both the ability to direct strategic initiatives as well as provide leadership for day-to-day operations
- Understanding of how other functions within the group benefits line of business are impacted by claims processes. These other functions include product design, underwriting, administration & valuation
- Knowledge of common medical conditions and terminology relating to group benefits claims
- Excellent communication skills, including polished presentation skills
- Disability Management experience and medical training is desirable
- Strong track record in coaching and developing leaders and staff
- Industry or business designations would be an asset
