Individual/family Directed Part-time Independent

A 41 year old man (JA), living in St. Thomas is currently seeking support 8-10 hours/month, approximately 2-3 hours/week; Days and times are negotiable, but generally afternoon and early evening hours are preferred.
JA is a likeable and easy going man with an infectious laugh. He loves interacting with others and also enjoys music, swimming and nature. He is legally blind, does not speak and uses some sign language and gestures to communicate. He understands most simple, plain language. He is learning to use a white cane for mobility, but primarily holds the arm of a support person.
This individual/family-directed, 1:1 support arrangement involves meeting the individual at his home and then taking him out in the community to enjoy leisure activities.
Three references, valid First Aid/CPR certification and a Criminal Reference Check are required. Intervenor training is preferred and post secondary education/experience is an asset.
$22.00/hour. You will be paid directly by the family, as a self-employed
contractor. Reimbursement for mileage, as approved.
