**About the Opportunity**

RAM Elevators & Lifts Inc. is an industry-leading Edmonton-based manufacturer of residential and commercial elevators and accessibility lifts. We are currently seeking a self-motivated individual to join our team as **Production & Health and Safety Coordinator**

**About the role**

The Production & Health and Safety Coordinator responsible for a mix of production activities and Health and Safety (HSE). This individual must be able to work under mínimal supervision while performing efficiently in their role. Attention to detail and taking pride in one's work are vital to the success of this role.

**Responsibilities**

**Health and Safety Responsibilities (70%)**
- Update and recommend Health & Safety rules, procedures, policies, and manuals.
- Schedule monthly health and safety meetings with safety committee member as required by regulatory standards. Documents safety meeting minutes, follow up on action items to ensure responsible parties have completed actions
- Create and implement safety plans and ensure they are being followed daily
- Educate employees on safety standards and expectations
- Facilitates the activities of the health and safety committee
- Provide recommendations for improving safety in the workplace
- Maintain documentation of the company's safety procedures, accidents, and related events
- Act as a liaison between management and external safety agencies, such as fire and insurance personnel
- Ensure that monthly safety audits are conducted, with assistance from the Health and Safety Committee member/s
- Responsible for all fire safety activities, including maintaining a fire safety plan and ensuring mandatory drills are completed
- Maintain Health and Safety bulletin boards
- Ensure effective WCB claims management process.
- Investigate accidents thoroughly and effectively, and then respond appropriately as required, including communicating to, training and following up with managers/supervisors and employees
- Manage return to work programs proactively, working closely with the employees, their manager/supervisor and the insurance organization to ensure the employee’s safety and health and protecting the Company’s interests
- Mentor, guide, teach and coach Team Leads on health and safety requirements, responsibilities, and how to fulfil them
- Conduct onsite safety walks, audits and inspections
- Ensure annual inspections are carried out on equipment and training needs are met.
- Represent Company during inspections and external audits.

**Production Responsibilities (30%)**:

- Assembly of electrical and mechanical components
- Assisting colleagues with shop floor production activities
- Meeting production targets and deadlines
- Use of hand tools
- Following instructions of supervisor for work assigned
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area, by implementing Lean 6S i.e., Sort - Set in Order - Shine - Standardize - Sustain and Safety

**Qualifications**
- Requires familiarity with standard manufacturing industry concepts, practices, procedures, and processes for Health & Safety and Environmental compliance
- Experience in H&S regulations/issues/committees.
- Ability to develop and implement training programs.
- Certified Regulatory Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent certification is preferred
- Competent and knowledgeable in Alberta Occupational Health & Safety Code and other regulatory requirements in a manufacturing setting
- Knowledgeable in the principles of safety, and workers' compensation along with pertinent federal, provincial, and local laws, codes, and regulations
- Ability to interact and effectively communicate with local, provincial, and federal regulatory representatives
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
- Interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish effective professional relationships with employees and the Team Leads
- Previous experience doing electrical mechanical assembly work
- Knowledge on use of measuring tape, drills, impact guns, saws, and other hand tools
- Working knowledge of measuring equipment, blueprints, and technical information.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is required
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to interact with internal and external stakeholders. Must be the face of the company to regulatory inspectors
- Able to drive change in practices and culture

**Working Conditions**
- While performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is maybe be required to lift weights
- The noise level inthe shop area can be loud. The temperature in the work environment is not regulated.

**Physical Requirements**
- The incumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for lifting and handling of heavy materials
