We are looking for a Disability Management and Return to Work Advisor to support our Health, Safety and Environment Branch (HSE). The Disability Management and Return to Work Advisor would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

**Your primary responsibilities**:

- Occupational Disability Case Management: You will manage all occupational disability files for the NRC as per federal and provincial regulations and legislations.
- Program Management: You will lead the ongoing development, implementation and continuous improvement of the occupational disability claims and return to work processes across the NRC.
- Subject Matter Expertise and Guidance: You will provide interpretations, recommendations and guide managers and employees.
- Return to Work: You will support collaborative return to work planning to facilitate and promote early Return to Work.
- Training and Coaching: You will work closely with internal partners, you will educate, inform, train and raise awareness

**Your work environment**:

- The NRC is involved with innovative research in transportation, engineering, life and medical sciences, and emerging technologies in computer science, electronics, astronomy and nanotechnology each with its own unique HSE challenges
- Each research area presents a variety of aspects ranging from worker health and protection, to animal safety, biosafety, radiation safety, hazardous materials management, noise and air emissions, waste waters, species at risk, and the list goes on
- The NRC’s HSE Branch works in collaboration with the research centres to proactively establish, promote and implement best practices in HSE management enabling the health and safety of our employees, our neighbouring communities and the protection of our environment
- You will be part of a dedicated team of HSE professionals who are proactive through the development of new innovative approaches and solutions in HSE management.

**Screening Criteria**:
**Education**:
Post-secondary university or college degree in health sciences, Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial Hygiene.

Equivalent level of training, knowledge and experience may be considered (as an alternate to the above).

**Assets but not a requirement**:

- Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP)
- Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC)

**Experience**:

- Significant* experience processing simple and complex occupational injury claims and managing return to work preferably within a provincial and-or federal government context.
- Experience representing employers with Worker’s Compensation Boards and external regulators (e.g., ESDC).
- Experience in conducting trend analyses and providing relevant advice and interpretations to stakeholders.
- Experience in performing process reviews and implementing approved changes and-or improvements.
- Experience providing disability management and return to work advice to managers, workplace committees and employees.
- Significant - 2 to 6 years

**Asset but not a requirement**: Experience in Worker’s Compensation Board (WCB) and Hazardous Occurrence Investigation Report (HOIR) processes.**Condition of Employment**:
