**Position Summary**:
This position is an important part of the finance department’s relationship with all Field, Shop, and Office employees for the A&H Edmonton, Vancouver, and Phoenix Rebar locations. Some of the responsibilities include supporting the timely and accurate completion of weekly/bi-weekly/semi-monthly payrolls, support for hiring/re-hiring and terminations, and working with finance team to meet provincial and federal requirements and deadlines. **Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities**:

- Responsibility Area #1 - Documentation and Reporting_
- Support the completion of full cycle weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls accurately and on time to meet deposit schedules.
- Complete and report employee ROE’s on Service Canada’s website.
- Complete journal entries for payroll costing to accounting system.
- Ensure proper supporting documentation is received and maintained.
- Provide reports to safety and other departments as required.
- Responsibility Area #2 - Administration and Payroll_
- Review timesheets for errors or deletions and enter hours/wage information.
- Calculate deduction amounts and assist with preparing direct deposit files and manual cheques for each payroll.
- Create and maintain employee files and organizing payroll documents after administering new hires/rehires.
- Provide support with reconciling, producing, submitting, and distributing of T4's and other yearend documents as required
- Supporting the reconciliation of payments for local union hall remittances.
- Administer any garnishee notices that come in and calculate deductions accordingly, as well as reporting to any necessary authorities.
- Administer new hires/rehires and employee terminations in accordance with labour regulations in the employee’s work location. As well as maintaining employee status and rate changes and ensure proper supporting documentation is maintained.
- Administer employee benefit enrollment and maintenance.

- Assist with Employee Offer Letter reviews.
- Communication with CRA and Service Canada as required.
- Provide timely and accurate responses to any and all employee queries
- Responsibility Area #3 - Communication and Feedback_
- Provide feedback on areas that could be improved upon to my supervisor. Share ideas to improve processes and be more efficient.
- Communicate and answer questions or concerns from staff regarding their pay or benefits.
- Provide Employment verification letters to employees at their request.
- Responsibility Area #4 - Health and Safety_
- Ensure that I have a clean and safe workspace. Ensure that there are no safety hazards in the room or elsewhere in the office.

- Focus on developing self and others through practicing living the company values every day.
- Participate in continuous trainings, coaching, and discussions about the values as requested or needed.
- Participate in helping A&H facilitate its purpose.

**Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:

- Union payroll experience considered an asset.
- High speed and high accuracy data entry skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of Provincial Employment Standards (AB and BC).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
- Effectively able to manage stress and stressful situations.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Excel.

**Supervision**:

- No supervisory responsibilities

**Education and Experience**:

- Note: A combination of education and experience outside of the standards below may also be considered._
- Education_
- High School Diploma
- Previous Payroll Experience (1-5 years)
- Software Experience - Avanti, Sage Financial, ROE Web
- Professional Designation_
- None
- Minimum Experience_
- 1 - 5 Years

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
