**We are looking for a Technical Support Functions Director based out of the St. Thomas, Ontario office.**
The Technical Support Functions Director will oversee key functions in Process Development and Implementation, Maintenance, and Digitalization for a state-of-the-art battery plant facility. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient operation, technological advancement, and continuous improvement of the plant’s processes and systems. The Director will lead cross-functional teams, collaborating with engineering, operations, and IT departments to optimize plant performance, reliability, and digital integration.
**This is a flex hybrid model, requiring 2 days in the St. Thomas office.**
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Oversee the development and optimization of production processes to meet quality, safety, and efficiency standards.
- Lead the implementation of best practices in process engineering, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to introduce new technologies and innovations.
- Develop process maps and workflows that enhance operational efficiencies and reduce waste.
- Establish benchmarks for process performance and identify opportunities to reduce cycle times and production costs.
- Ensure processes comply with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and sustainability goals.
- Provide training and support for the operations team on new processes and technologies, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Develop and oversee a comprehensive maintenance strategy that includes preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance to maximize plant uptime.
- Manage the maintenance team to ensure timely, cost-effective repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance of critical equipment and facilities.
- Implement and maintain best practices for asset management, reliability engineering, and spare parts inventory control.
- Conduct regular audits of maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure critical spares are available, optimizing inventory levels and reducing downtime.
- Develop and monitor maintenance KPIs, providing regular reports and insights on equipment performance, downtime, and cost optimization.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and establish corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance and service needs, ensuring quality and cost-efficiency.
- Lead digital transformation initiatives across the facility, implementing data-driven solutions for process control, maintenance, and resource management.
- Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to develop and integrate advanced digital tools such as IoT, AI, and automation.
- Establish data analytics practices to drive real-time decision-making, predict maintenance needs, and enhance process efficiencies.
- Promote a data-centric culture, ensuring accurate data collection, analysis, and reporting across departments.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their relevance and potential impact on the facility.
- Design and implement training programs on digital tools and technologies to upskill teams and improve operational efficiencies.
- Oversee cybersecurity measures related to plant operations and digital tools to protect data integrity and system security.
- Lead and coordinate projects within the areas of process development, maintenance, and digitalization, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
- Develop project plans, timelines, and milestones for improvement initiatives, aligning with overall facility goals.
- Facilitate collaboration between departments such as production, quality, engineering, and IT, to ensure alignment of goals and efficient use of resources.
