**Description**

The** Student Services Administration Team** in **Student and Enrolment Services** is currently seeking a Full-time Temporary Relief **Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Support Advisor **for approximately 12 months.

The Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Support Advisor positions reports to the Manager, Sexual and Gender Based Violence Response and Prevention. The Advisor works closely with their Manager in providing support to those members of the University community who have experienced or been impacted by sexual or gender-based v violence, and provides support and expertise in assessing complex risk for both the individual and the broader campus community.

The Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Support Advisor is responsible for supporting education, awareness and programming efforts related to sexual and gender-based violence prevention as well as education on the impact of sexual and gender-based violence, rape myths, rape culture etc. The Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Support Advisor will provide training on topics including responding to disclosures, consent, reporting options/procedures and available resources.

The Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Support Advisor serves as a key point of contact for all members of the University community who are impacted by sexualized violence, and supports for those community members by providing impartial and confidential emotional support including effective referrals to resources on and off campus, navigating and negotiating necessary accommodations on behalf of the impacted individual (if requested), developing safety plans, and facilitating formal reporting on or off-campus when requested by the impacted individual.

**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
Support and Case Management
- Provide a warm, supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere for all community members who access service.
- Assist victims/survivors with initial appointment and follow up including but not limited to: documentation, filing reports, developing safety plans, accompanying individuals to meetings, or serving as an advisor (at the request of victim/survivor).
- Assess emergent nature of intakes and prioritize appointments accordingly.
- Maintain expertise in Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Policy and procedures and refer impacted individuals to relevant department for investigation/response should victim/survivor opt to file a Formal Report.
- Connect victims/survivors with internal and external resources as appropriate and follow-up with clients to ensure successful referral.
- Maintain relationships with faculties, student services, residence services, Student Wellness Services staff and physicians, clubs and student associations to facilitate communication and awareness on sexual and gender-based violence and healthy relationships.

Outreach and Training
- Establish collaborative relationships with key stakeholders on and off-campus to ensure effective wrap-around support for impacted individuals and to facilitate knowledge/understanding of supports in place should a disclosure be received.
- Offer scheduled presentations to the campus community to further understanding and knowledge of critical topics related to sexual and gender-based violence and to increase knowledge of the sexual and gender-based violence policy and service roles with in the office of sexual and gender-based violence prevention and education.
- Providing appropriate referrals to internal and external resources.
- Supporting community members through advocacy to be able to remain at work or in school in a healthy, safe, and supportive manner.

Administration
- Triage requests and schedule appointments in a timely and responsive manner.
- Assist the Manager in daily operations and administration duties of the office.
- Work with the Manager in program planning, research, ensuring best practice at all times.
- Develop and deliver presentations on behalf of the sexual and gender-based violence prevention and support office that educate the campus community on available resources and programs.
- Represent the work of the Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Support Office on institutional committees and campus events.
- Collaborate with the SES marketing & communications team to evaluate and keep the sexualized violence website current.
- Maintain client files according to retention rules and confidentiality protocols in accordance with standards established with the Access and Privacy Office (University Legal Services) and ensures files are updated in a timely, thorough and ethical manner.
- Ensure all analysis and reporting efforts are compliant with university processes and FOIP.
- Manage own time to effectively accomplish tasks and to ensure deadlines are met.
- Exercise sound judgment and decision making following outlined procedures and guidelines.
