Duties will include:

- Review manufacturer's parts books and catalogues to select the correct parts or materials based on needs
- Determine the source of parts supply
- Prepare quotes for business partners for any parts and materials requirements
- Initiate purchase order process for any special inventory requirements
- Receive parts deliveries from suppliers and validates for quality and quantity
- Ensure every product that requires a Safety Data Sheet is updated and available in the system
- Determine appropriate transportation methods
- Coordinate pickup and delivery of parts with trucking, courier companies and suppliers
- Enter receiving data into the corporate inventory management system
- Issue received parts to the appropriate business area
- Contact suppliers regarding damage, shortage or incorrect quality of items received to reconcile discrepancies
- Maintain a file on parts ordered but not received and expedites with suppliers for delivery information to meet business partners timelines
- Ensure stock is organized, rotated and monitor for expiry/warranties
- Ensure a safe work environment with proper housekeeping
- Lead safety inspections as required
- Report and incidents or near misses to supervisor
- Participate and attend regular safety meetings for work location
- Determine whether parts and materials are required for the present or the future and work with Supply Chain teams to determine the disposition method
- Return incorrect and obsolete items to the appropriate supplier
- Record parts and materials movement activities
- Offer alternatives types of stock to improve customer service
- Make recommendations to the Inventory Planning team for inventory stocks, inventory levels and alternative materials; keeping select parts or materials in stock
- Monitor item warranties or returns to vendors
- Participate in special assignments or projects
- Conduct cycle counts to investigate and reconcile discrepancies
- Ensure that manufacturer's parts books, catalogues and electronic system are maintained up to date
- Oversees parts room operations and provides direction and guidance to staff
- Works closely with business partners to understand business needs in order to provide excellent customer service for upcoming business partner activities
- Conducts detailed investigations and posts the differences in the systems
- Related duties as required

**Qualifications**:

- Journeyman Parts Technician Certificate recognized by Government of Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology
- 5 years Journeyman parts experience. Those who possess 2 years Journeyman parts and 3 years warehousing experience, 2 which includes supervisory experience, will also be considered
- Strong knowledge of mechanical parts, catalogues, distributors and dealers
- Considerable knowledge of inventory control and warehousing practices
- Knowledge of City purchasing and requisitioning procedures
- Knowledge in the maintenance of MSDS catalogues and WHMIS
- Applicants may be required to complete other training courses recognized by the City of Edmonton
- Strong and accurate data entry skills
- Demonstrated excellence providing customer skills; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Thorough knowledge of materials and equipment used by Warehouse Operations and Fleet Services
- Knowledge of inventory management, automated office and inventory control systems
- Knowledge of electronic and manual parts lookup practices, purchasing and requisitioning procedures
- Knowledge and experience related to storage and handling of hazardous goods
- Strong leadership skills required to provide coaching and oversight to subordinate roles
- Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work highly independent; ability to take initiative and be resourceful
- Ability to identify where non-standard processes should apply
- Proven ability to make effective recommendations and seek approval for the action, as required
- Ability to consider the impact to other organizations and business units
- Ability to operate a forklift
- Physical ability to lift a weight of 23 kilograms and reach top shelves with the aid of a stepladder
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License, must be eligible to obtain a City Driving Permit
- Hire is dependent on a Criminal Records Check (CRC) security clearance that is satisfactory to the City of Edmonton and is a requirement of this position, there may be a cost associated with this requirement
