Job Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Technician II to join its Financial Services team on a 15-month replacement term basis.

The Accounting Technician II plays a vital role in supporting the University's mission by providing exceptional accounting services and ensuring the efficient management of financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and reconcile Accounts Receivable and General Ledger accounts with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Process and adjust outstanding accounts, including making necessary phone calls to resolve issues.
  • Ensure all accounting documents meet the University's standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Handle university funds and maintain accurate records of payments.
  • Prepare and review daily sales reports and reconcile revenue from various operations.
  • Provide excellent customer service and support to students, departments, and external customers.
  • Notify supervisors of any issues and propose process improvements to enhance workflow efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities, with a focus on problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Proficiency in computerized accounting systems, spreadsheets, and database queries, with a strong understanding of financial software and tools.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing work environments and priorities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a mid-size accounting environment, preferably in Accounts Receivable.
  • Proficiency in cash transactions, bank deposits, and account reconciliation, with a strong understanding of financial regulations and compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications in a Windows environment, with a focus on Excel, Word, and Access.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
