Our team is evolving to meet the needs of our growing business. Under Integrity & Risk, the Materials Evaluation Centre (MEC) is looking for an experienced **Material Failure Investigation Specialist **who will conduct Laboratory Management Systems (LMS) activities as well as highly specialized material failure investigations, root cause analyses, CAPAs and create shared learnings with actions to be distributed across the organization. **What You Will Do**:
- Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations including evidence gathering, failure analysis, simulation, accelerated life testing and statistical analysis prepare reports detailing the root cause and corrective and preventive (CAPA) actions.
- Act in the role of CAPA owner as needed and lead teams through structured problems solving and other phases of the CAPA process to ensure investigations are complete in a timely manner.
- Interface frequently with third-party service providers (e.g. TSSA, OFM, Engineering Firms) and internal key stakeholders (Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, Integrity, Asset Management, Risk, Legal).
- Ensure that CAPAs are adequate/suitable for detecting potential quality issues, determining the root cause of those issues and in cooperation with facility operations planning/implementing actions to drive improvement.
- Assist with the identification of emerging risks and trends from completed internal and external investigations and root cause analyses, strengths, systemic challenges, opportunities for improvements, and nonconformances with internal and regulatory requirements.
- Development of governing documents for Investigation and Root Cause Analyses. (i.e. Standards, Processes, and Procedures).
- Acquiring and analyzing data using appropriate standard quantitative and statistical methods across a spectrum of business environments to facilitate process analysis and improvements.
- Experience using industry standards (i.e. ISO, CSA, ANSI, ASTM, and others) as well as applicable operational practices, procedures and industry best practices.
**Who You Are**:
- Engineering or applied science degree or diploma preferably in Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering Technology with proven mechanical aptitude.
- 5 or more years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience and understanding in developing and maintaining Management Systems (i.e ISO 9001/ ISO17025).
- Strong understanding of Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (i.e. pipelines, facilities) and incident investigations.
- Excellent problem solving, report writing, communication and presentation skills with ability to manage different projects at a time.
- Proven people and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals with technical and no technical content.
- Strong technical, mechanical and analytical skills.
- Strong experience with MS Office Suite and Power BI.
- Eligibility for OACETT/P.Eng. licensure is preferred.
**Working Conditions**:
- Work performed in typical Office/Lab environment 75% with travel up to 25%.
- Able to multitask and provide flexibility to work outside of normal working hours when required.
- Valid “G” license with a clear abstract and successful completion of a company driver’s test.
