The Opportunity

We are hiring an ambitious and forward-thinking environmental and sustainability lead to join our established and growing team in Toronto.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

- Providing leadership and strategic direction on sustainability, including environment, social and governance matters and to ensure sustainability is carefully considered, managed, and supported throughout the programme of works.
- Advising on engaging stakeholders to redefine the boundaries of ambition to pursue more sustainable outcomes and achievements in the design, delivery and/or operation.
- Developing and gaining acceptance for action plans to improve the environmental and sustainability credentials of the programme.
- Managing accountability for supporting purpose-led and measurable outcomes, with particular focus on climate change, social value, and biodiversity.
- Building the project level understanding of relevant environmental and sustainability requirements.
- Reviewing, monitoring and reporting on client environmental and sustainability performance data.
- Producing, reviewing, updating, maintaining and briefing appropriate project documentation detailing the requirements for environment and sustainability.
- Engaging the client to account for the delivery of required environmental and sustainability outcomes.
- Providing regular and ad-hoc reports on Environmental and Sustainability issues.
- Supporting building a learning legacy, by engaging with project delivery partners, communications team and other relevant stakeholders to develop case studies, articles, information, infographics, presentations and other collateral that showcases the sustainability credentials.

About You

You are digitally savvy, can build lasting client relationships and lead strong, motivated construction teams. You will be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace have to offer.

You have a degree qualification in an environmental or related discipline. You will have knowledge of environmental legislation, standards and good practice guidance. You have experience in large scale program delivery and developing E&S within integrated management systems. Experience in Ontario, Canada is an advantage.

You have technical knowledge and experience in environment and sustainability. You have technical knowledge and experience in ISO 14001. You have experience in in developing and embedding Environment and Sustainability (E&S) management systems. You have technical writing experience. You have working knowledge of E&S policies, standards, legislation and procedures pertaining to the industry. You have knowledge of the regional politic, economic, social and public interest context.
