Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at STRABAG INC. This is a full-time position that will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and implementing sustainability initiatives.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working as an environmental engineer or equivalent, preferably in an engineering or construction industry. A bachelor's or advanced degree in environmental science or engineering is also required. Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC) is an asset.

This role involves conducting daily site inspections, preparing technical reports, and maintaining a field log. You will also be responsible for identifying and documenting environmental site deficiencies, communicating with the construction team for resolution, and supervising and coordinating with subcontractors.

In addition, you will assist the environmental manager on issues related to environmental management plans and legislative requirements, assist in obtaining permits and approvals, complete spill reporting and clean up supervision, and communicate with the Environmental manager of any construction that needs to be addressed in relation to the environmental management plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct daily site inspections to assess for compliance and prepare technical reports.
  • Ensure that erosion and sediment controls and other environmental mitigations measures are being implemented on site.
  • Identify and document environmental site deficiencies and communicate with the construction team for resolution.
  • Supervise and coordinate with subcontractors.
  • Assist the environmental manager on issues related to environmental management plans and legislative requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working as an environmental engineer or equivalent.
  • A bachelor's or advanced degree in environmental science or engineering.
  • Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CAN-CISEC) is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and flexible.
  • Ability to multi-task.

As a Senior Environmental Sustainability Specialist at STRABAG INC, you can expect a competitive salary range of $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
