Environmental Sustainability Director

About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and dynamic Environmental Sustainability Director to lead our environmental sustainability initiatives in North America. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive environmental strategies that align with our company's goals and regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental management, sustainability, and project management, with a minimum of 15 years of experience in the food and beverage industry or similar industrial production environment.
Key Responsibilities- Developing Environmental Strategies:
- Lead the development of comprehensive environmental strategies aligned with the organization's goals and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee compliance with environmental regulations at local and national levels in both the United States of America and Canada.
- Sustain the implementation of environmental programs, including ISO14001 Environmental Management System and McCain Driving Impact (MDI) Playbook, designed to minimize the organization's environmental impact.
- Support the development of environmental management plans and obtain necessary permits and approvals for capital projects.
- Review project designs and specifications to ensure compliance with environmental standards and McCain best practices.
- Interface between North America Engineering and other stakeholders to provide consultation on technology selection, capital planning (short and longer term), capital expenditure budget estimates, project management resource allocation, and planned schedules to deploy.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field (advanced degree preferred).
- Strong evidence of environmental knowledge and experience.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in environmental management, sustainability, environmental project and program management, or related roles, with demonstrated leadership experience.
- 12+ years of practical experience in the food and beverage industry, or similar industrial production environment with expertise in wastewater, operation, and management.
- Wastewater treatment experience is a requirement (10+ years).
- Technical experience related to energy usage and reduction processes and best practices (5+ years).
- Air quality experience relative to National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) (5+ years or equivalent) is desired.
- Water supply and water recycling experience is desired.
- Travel up to 50% required.
