Why is this role important?
- The Program Lead, Data Standards, is part of a matrix team responsible for the planning, coordination, integration and enterprise alignment of data standards initiatives across CIHI. This work will strengthen capabilities and processes related to data standards development and operations within the organization as well as establish and maintain strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. The Program Lead actively engages in and leads internal and external stakeholder needs identification and related activities, supports strategic initiatives, including interoperability, and supports CIHI partnerships through committee participation, as required.
- What you'll do
- 1. Provides leadership and guidance to staff in a matrix environment. Supervises, motivates, coaches, coordinates and monitors work, workload and performance of staff to ensure that quality is maintained and that learning opportunities are provided. Conducts annual performance management reviews. Assists in recruiting qualified staff and providing orientation and training to the assigned portfolio.
- 2. Develops and implements work plans and provides regular progress updates. Participates in the development and monitoring of the operational plan. Provides input into the planning and execution of operational deliverables and branch priorities.
- 3. Supports the planning and execution of projects for the Data Standards team, including leading research, environmental scanning, internal and external consultation on emerging topics, and preparing briefing documents on key strategic initiatives with recommendations for senior management.- 5. Maintains knowledge of current and emerging data standards development best practices to inform and evolve CIHI’s data standards activities. Provides expertise and leadership for initiatives to strengthen capabilities and processes related to data standards development and operations within the organization.
- 6. Supports and participates in all committees and expert groups relevant to the portfolio. Participates in meetings with external working groups and prepares documentation as required. Establishes and maintains relevant professional contacts within external organizations.
- 7. Manages data standards documentation and metadata, including standard operating procedures, for internal and external users. Manages, updates and maintains standards-related content on CIHI’s internal and external websites.
- 8. Collaborates effectively with staff across and between Divisions and ensures coordination of linked projects, products and services across portfolios.
- 9. Identifies and responds to stakeholder needs, including evolving existing products and services, responding to stakeholder queries, and providing education and information products and services.
- What you'll bring to the table
- Undergraduate degree in Health/Business Administration, Health Information or relevant field. Master’s degree an asset.
- 5 years’ experience in health care information and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with mínimal supervision.
- 3 years of experience supervising staff.
- Knowledge of the data and information lifecycle and related governance, and experience in the collection and use of data.
- Knowledge of and experience with developing, implementing and/or using CIHI data standards, including master and reference data.
- Knowledge of data standards development best practices (e.g. in health informatics and/or statistical fields) is a definite asset.
- Knowledge of external data and/or data interoperability standards is an asset.
