We are looking for a dynamic, driven, self-motivated HR Generalist for our Brampton Pie plant.

**Job Overview**: The HR Generalist provides support and works closely with the Bakery Operations and Human Resources team while taking primary ownership of Recruitment, Talent Management, Union grievance guidance including 3rd step, disciplinary issues, sits on the JHSC to review any HR support needed, WSIB management and other people-related activities that impact employees in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
**Recruitment and Selection**:

- Coordinate hourly and salary Recruitment process;
- Coordinate with Hiring Manager to ensure job requirements are accurate;
- Create job description, if not already done;
- Review with HR Coordinator if hourly role isn’t filled through the internal posting;
- Post job externally for hourly and salary on posting system and Community Centre (if applicable);
**Offer letter creation**:

- Create Offer letter and ensure hourly rate, Collective agreement language is accurate and up to date;
- Hourly hire only: Set-up & verify completion and satisfaction of physical testing and background checks via forms for new hire to complete;
**Onboarding of salary hires**:

- Onboard salary new hires ;
- Work with HR Coordinator to have FOBs programmed and ready for new hire.
- Enter new hire information in Workday/other HRIS data system to include personal data, benefits data, banking etc.;
- Assist new hires with completing the new hire forms in the orientation package;
- Run training videos, etc.
- Ensure new hire checklist and new hire orientation is complete
- Work with Operations Coordinator on uniform set-up, etc.

**Labour Relations/Employee Relations**:

- Work with Supervisors and HR Coordinator to assist with response to various steps in the grievance process.
- Ensure 3rd step grievances are reviewed and a response is provided to the union in a timely manner and/or seek expertise including legal counsel if necessary.
- Attend regular meetings with the Chief Steward/Union rep.
- Investigate Confidential matters including work related accidents, etc. for all employee matters.
- Keep apprised of any probationary hourly terminations, etc.

**Health and Safety**:

- Sit on JHSC meeting to review
- Review any Medical aids with the Supervisor and review investigation.
- Complete Form 7s within 3 business days.
- Work with the Manager on ensuring modified work is immediately offered in writing.
- Act as a liaison to WSIB and contact to ensure any questions or concerns are communicated promptly on modified work, etc.

**Performance Management**
- Performance management for salaried employees
- Implement or ensure regular Performance reviews are completed.
- Review, investigate and manage performance reviews including assisting with Performance improvement plans.
- Review and advise on disciplinary matters including terminations using outside counsel if necessary.

**Other duties may include**:

- Back up for HR Coordinator
- Plan social events, coordinate Charity events and Holiday lunch, etc.
- Coordinate Retirement celebrations including creating a formal Retirement celebration plan. Create letter and hand outs to employee to select Service anniversary award.
- Coordinate yearly service awards.
- Assist with coordination of layoffs, if necessary.
- Review of current practices to improve and ensure input is incorporated.
- **All other duties as assigned**

**COMPETENCIES AND QUALICATIONS**:

- Degree in Human Resources Management or related degree.
- CHRP or CHRL designation.
- At least 3-5 years of progressive human resources experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
- H&S certification is an asset.

- Demonstrated experience with labour relations matters such as grievances, investigations, and administration of CBA.

**Salary**: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
