New employees must provide documentation of a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St. Mary’s General Hospital. **Staff will require clearance from Employee Health and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.
**Position Summary**:
The **Registered Kinesiologist **has advanced clinical training and is responsible for overseeing the client’s journey in the Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation Program. Key components of the role include interpreting results from the Functional Capacity Exercise Test (FCET), conducting intake assessments and developing the client’s exercise plan. The Registered Kinesiologist supports the client’s fitness and lifestyle goals using evidence-based health behaviour change strategies and assists the client in transitioning to self-management following program completion. Modes of delivery include home program (telephone based), virtual and onsite. Other key duties include providing exercise education in individual or group setting, providing direction to and collaborating with the Exercise Assistant, and participating in program development projects.

**Position Responsibilities**:Conduct the kinesiologist intake assessment

Develop client exercise plan

Oversee clients in a home program, virtual class setting and onsite program

Instruct and educate clients on exercise safety and follow through of exercise goals

Provide guidance and direction to Exercise Assistants

Lead or participate in exercise-focused education sessions

**Position Requirements**:
Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Registered Kinesiologists

Certified American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Exercise Specialist or CSEP Certified Exercise Physiologist certification (preferred)

Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)

Member of the Canadian Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation preferred

Knowledge of cardiac rehabilitation with a minimum of two years clinical experience in a cardiac rehabilitation setting

Knowledge of adult education principles and strategies for behaviour change counselling are an asset

Excellent interpersonal skills and flexibility to meet client and program needs

Good attendance is required Demonstrated commitment to the values of service, responsible stewardship, community responsiveness and respect
