Jellycat is a privately owned design-lead, gift brand and company, creating innovative and luxury soft toys and accessories for all ages that are loved around the world. We have an established and growing UK wholesale customer base and we work with our partners to maximize the potential and reach of Jellycat throughout, sharing joy as we go
As we continue to grow our North American business at pace, Canada has become a focus Country for Jellycat and a unique opportunity has arisen whereby we need a highly strategic Country Manager - who is based in Toronto to build & manage revenue and sales agency in this territory.
We have built business in Jellycat - but our exponential growth opportunity is with character building our Amuseables, Bag Charms and Bags for the teenagers/children and adults - this will be your absolute primary focus to establish Jellycat as the number one Go-To Soft Toy brand in the market. We need to character build in the market and establish ourselves as market leaders.
Reporting directly into the VP of Wholesale (based in the NA Head Office), you’ll focus on unlocking all growth opportunities within the Canadian market via luxury & premium channels online & offline. Building the brand via the brand strategy, for rapid long-term future growth. Managing and growing our robust Indigo business and managing International Sales Manager (based in Vancouver).
You will develop a market growth strategy, maximizing sales in existing accounts, identifying new business opportunities & most importantly ensuring the team & retailers are engaged in actioning your strategy & monitoring the progress.
We have masses of opportunity in this market so we need someone who is eager to hit the ground running, can see the immediate opportunity and really is excited to drive the business forward at pace.
This role will be based in Canada with limited travel to the NA Head Office in Minneapolis as required. You must be able willing to travel and while Toronto is our focus City - we then need to identify key cities we need to win with in Canada and travel accordingly.
**Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities**
- Develop, present and execute a 5-year growth strategy alongside the VP Wholesale Sales
- Managing and developing Indigo business
- Responsible for taking new collections to market - presenting them in an inspiring way to customers and growing brand awareness and sales
- Establish Jellycat as the #1 Go-To brand in the Soft Toy/gifting market of Canada
- Working with the International Sales Manager, carryout a full review of our current retail stockists and present back which partners we need to exit and a plan and strategy to ‘clean up’ the market to ensure premium positioning
- The strength of Jellycat is really maximized when we have the full breadth of the collection displayed in-stores - we are a soft, luxurious brand who needs to have presence in-stores so people can touch and feel the softness and quality to understand why we are different
- Present quarterly strategy progress updates back to the VP Wholesale Sales
- Continue to build the Baby Jellycat category in the Mother & Baby market - online and retail
- Deliver against annual budget for your region in line with Jellycat company budget plan
- Identify business opportunities & grow the market using a strategic approach
- Assist in showroom set up & planning for key sell in meetings
- Be the Jellycat ambassador to lead the Jellycat strategy in market & feedback relevant information to protect & grow the brand in market
- Carry out regular market visits (throughout Canada) to ensure Jellycat are in all the right points of distribution that align with the brand luxury / premium positioning
- Build out segmentation to support good, better, best retailer approach & implement
- Build Canadian marketing plan (collaborating with the Global Marketing team) inline with the wider global strategy & implement
- Present marketing opportunities to build brand awareness - POS, SIS installations, branding, etc.
- Continuity and seasonal product forecasting (rolling 12 month) working closely with the Merch team to secure stock for all opportunities in market
- Liaise with credit control for financial matters and resolution - ensuring we limit the financial exposure to the business
- Work closely with the logistics team & warehouse to guarantee orders are accurate & delivered efficiently
- Working closely & managing an International Sales Manager, based in Vancouver to support the day to day operation in the Canadian market
**Essential Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Behaviors**
- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken
- Minimum of 5 years proven experience as a strategic planner, growth driver and brand builder within the Canadian market, ideally with Indigo as well as independent Specialty retailers
