**HERE'S WHAT THE ROLE WILL ENTAIL**:

- **Document Preparation**:

- Utilizing a library of pre-existing templates, draft/populate, review, and edit legal documents related to franchise agreements, leases, disclosures, and other legal agreements.
- Collaborate with 3rd party legal counsel and executives to complete final agreements
- Assist in the preparation of legal correspondence and communications.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of legal documents in compliance with current franchise laws and regulations.
- **Real Estate Process Management**:

- Review and provide notes on all new leases, lease renewals and lease transfers for portfolio company franchisees - complete a checklist of stipulated requirements, omissions and potential issues.
- Collaborate with Executive and 3rd party legal counsel to draft any amendments or related documents.
- Provide support and guidance to franchisees regarding legal matters, compliance issues, and dispute resolution.
- **Franchise Compliance**:

- Work with operations department to monitor and maintain compliance with franchise regulations and laws and draft legal compliance notices where necessary.
- Conduct research on legal requirements specific to franchise development in various jurisdictions.
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with franchise laws and regulations.
- **Contract Management**:

- Manage and organize contracts, agreements, and other legal documents for portfolio companies
- Track contract deadlines, renewal dates, and compliance obligations.
- **Communication and Coordination**:

- Act as a liaison between the Franchise Development Team and external legal counsel.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information and ensure accuracy in legal documentation.
- **Research and Analysis**:

- Conduct legal research on industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Summarize legal documents and provide relevant information to support decision-making.

**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU**:

- Legal Admin Assistant Diploma, Legal Assistance or a related field.
- Prior experience as a legal assistant or in a similar role, preferably with some background related to commercial leasing and real estate and/or franchising.
- Strong understanding of legal documentation and compliance procedures.
- Proficiency in legal research and document management tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Having proficiency in French is regarded as a valuable asset for this job.

**POSITION TYPE AND LOCATION**
This is a part-time position that will be based out of our Head Office in downtown Edmonton.
