**Parlee McLaws LLP** is a regional law firm with Alberta roots extending back more than 135 years. We are looking for an experienced **Litigation Legal Assistant **to join our team. This role is located at our **downtown** **Edmonton **office.

The hours of work are **Monday to Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM** (37.5 hours/week) and requires daily in-office presence.

**You will deliver on**:

- Conducting court searches
- Drafting correspondence, court, and financing legal documents
- Accurate transcription of dictation
- Preparing a variety of legal documents including briefs and factums
- Pro-active management of files and task timelines to ensure required statutes of limitations and deadlines are met
- Managing incoming workflow from a team of lawyers
- Calendar management, including coordinating and scheduling meetings
- Preparation of accounts and time entry
- Generating reporting as required
- General administrative tasks including office and file management
- Other tasks as required

**You possess**:

- A minimum of 3 years of previous experience as a legal assistant in a litigation practice (administrative assistant experience is an asset)
- Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant/Paralegal program (equivalent experience may be considered)
- Substantial reliability and adaptability accompanied by a professional demeanor and conduct
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work
- Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing English with solid spelling and grammar skills (additional language skills are an asset)
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs as well as other software such as Worldox, Elite 3E, Remindex, SpeechExec or similar programs
- Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines with a high degree of personal initiative
- Understanding of basic accounting principles
- Handling of confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
- Effective collaboration and efficiency as a part of a team as well as working independently
- Strong client service and relationship building skills
- Adaptability to changing priorities and effectiveness in a high-volume work environment
- Problem-solving skills with a pro-active mindset
- Experience with all levels of court is an asset
