The Children’s Centre Manager is a member of the Recreation Services leadership team responsible for leading and managing the Children’s Centre department at the Arbutus Club. The Children’s Centre provides exceptional care and programming for children 0-5 years old and includes Childminding and three licensed group childcare rooms.

This is a full-time position that includes approximately 15-20 hours of teaching in classroom per week and the remaining hours will be administrative hours.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

The duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

- Leading a team of certified early childhood educators and caregivers, including hiring, training, mentoring and evaluation.
- Create, lead and facilitate all onboarding information and procedures.
- Update and maintains policy and procedures manual for Children’s Centre staff.
- Liaison with Vancouver Coastal Health for all licensed programs, staff, and facilities.
- Maintain an up to code facility for annual inspections from Vancouver Coastal Health.
- Maintain all administrative documentation for Vancouver Coastal Health.
- Design high-quality curriculums for all licensed early childhood education programs
- Ensure that the classroom is of a high standard, well maintained and aesthetically organized.
- Ensure all children in the licensed Group Childcare programs for ages 3-5yrs are learning and developing in preparation for BC Kindergarten.
- Ensure all programs planned and designed are age-appropriate for the designated age group.
- Planning, developing, facilitating, and marketing of all programs and special events under the Children’s Centre.
- Maintain a welcome and communicative relationship with children, families, and members and ensure that all members' concerns, complaints, or inquiries are responded to in a professional and timely manner.
- Ensure resources for teachers are up to date, complete and fully stocked.
- Responsible for scheduling and approving payroll for staff within their department
- Accountable for budgets, billing, and contractor invoices
- Staying up to date with ECE trends, philosophies, and pedagogies.

Additional duties include:

- Direct onsite supervision and member engagement during special events hosted by the Arbutus Club for families (Canada Day Pancake Breakfast, Family Halloween, Snowball Bash, Spring Carnival, etc.)
- Coordinating with other department personnel including Engineering, Janitorial, Food and Beverage regarding organizing and setting up programs and events, sharing spaces, and more.
- Attends quarterly team leaders' meetings, optional monthly meetings and other meetings as required by Recreation Services

**Requirements & Qualifications**
- BC Early Child Educator Childhood Education Certificate
- Montessori Certificate, an asset
- Child First Aid and CPR Certificate, an asset
- Criminal Record Review by Ministry of Education
- Immunization History
- including COVID-19 Vaccination
- 3 reference contacts or letters related to the field.
- Experience working with children ages 0-5 years.
- Experience in a Montessori environment an asset
- Knowledge using Montessori equipment an asset.
- Experience in a Play-based, Reggio Emilia, or Waldorf environment an asset
- Excellent planning, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to lead programs solo or with groups of children of varying ages, needs, and abilities.
- Ability to lead programs that are both academic and play based.
- Excellent leader with strong communication skills who conducts themselves with professionalism and integrity.
