Account Payable Assistant

At Safex Transport, we rely on a meticulous financial system to drive our business forward. The accounts payable (AP) department keeps that system running smoothly by managing cash flow and paying vendors and suppliers. We are searching for a skilled financial specialist to join our AP team to help process, track, and record payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The AP specialist will have a daily, ongoing impact on financial transactions, keeping us on track, on time, and on good terms with our valued partners.

**Objectives of this role**
- Support the company in optimizing its financial transactions and systems.
- Strengthen and grow relationships with vendors and suppliers through timely payments.
- Assist in streamlining and improving the accounts payable process.
- Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting
- Comply with national and local financial regulations.

**Responsibilities**
- Completing payments and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices
- Perform invoice and general-ledger data entry.
- Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
- Ensuring outstanding balances are updated with credit memos that are due.
- Verifying vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
- Maintaining historical records of all invoices, reports, receipts, and cheques by saving documents properly.
- Assisting other departments with equipment or product purchases, tracking assets and accounts for acquisition
- Execute credit card and bank account reconciliation.
- Obtain and print signatures on all checks.
- Assist senior financial officers as needed.

**Required skills and Qualifications.**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Understanding of basic principles of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping.
- Superb time management skills and detail orientation.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and partners information.
- Proficient Microsoft Office knowledge and skills
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
- Strong analytic abilities.
- High degree of attention to details.

**Preferred skills and qualifications**
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Experience with accounting software and online platforms

**Salary**: From $40,000.00 per year
