**Main Purpose & Function**

As a member of the City-wide Recreation Services team, the position reports to the Recreation Services Coordinator - Outdoor Sport Facilities.

**Specific Duties & Responsibilities**
- The Recreation Facility Booking System Clerks use their superior judgement and analytical skills to determine citizen’s needs, and to issue facility permits based on suitability and availability of facilities based on established policies and procedures.
- The Recreation Facility Booking System Clerks also obtain supporting documents such as insurance certificates, process payments, and collect accounts receivable from customers as required. This position is also responsible for receiving payment, issuing receipts, invoices, and refunds, and following up on accounts receivable.
- The Booking System Clerk is responsible for assisting with the training and orientation of auxiliary staff, providing backup for the Recreation Service Coordinator, and other related work as required.

**Qualifications**

Education and Experience:

- Completion of Grade 12, with related clerical experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Considerable knowledge of sport and recreational facilities, including but not limited to; outdoor sport fields, diamonds, courts
- Working knowledge of Park Board policies, by-laws and basic knowledge of City operations
- Working knowledge of modern office procedures and sound knowledge of basic accounting principles
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to deal tactfully and effectively with the public and staff, even in difficult situations
- Strong multi-tasking capability - includes monitoring and hearing information from the callers via a headset, while reviewing and interpreting information from multiple computer screens, and entering data, and responding to the caller.
- Good ability to exercise independent judgement and problem solve in the familiar phases of the work where the decisions are based on a sound understanding of departmental procedures
- Able to provide accurate and thorough information to the public
- Able to enforce rules and policies with calmness, firmness and fairness
- Able to work independently while interacting in a team environment
- Able to read maps and VanMap
- Able to learn and retain a working knowledge of the general location of the streets, parks, community centres, playing fields of the City of Vancouver
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
