About the Job

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Booking Clerk to join our team at BC Children's Hospital. As a Booking Clerk, you will play a critical role in scheduling and booking appointments for patients, ensuring that our medical imaging services run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and book inpatient, outpatient, and daycare appointments in accordance with established priority levels and medical/technical staff schedules.
  • Coordinate with patients, units, and physician offices to confirm appointments and relay instructions.
  • Pre-register daycare patients, obtaining patient information and entering it into our computerized patient database.
  • Locate relevant patient information, such as images and consultation histories, and process patient data by receiving applicable documentation and completing requisitions.
  • Enter booking and image/film information into our computerized and/or manual booking system.
  • Register patients, obtaining essential or changed information and entering it into our hospital's computerized patient information system.
  • Maintain requisitions for all inpatient, outpatient, and daycare bookings.
  • Provide patient waiting list information to supervisors, including the number of appointments scheduled and patients waiting to be scheduled.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12, two years' recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to keyboard at 40 wpm.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
