Join our team as a Booking Clerk, Medical Imaging and play a vital role in the delivery of patient care at BC Cancer.
The Booking Clerk, Medical Imaging reports to the Clerical Supervisor and performs scheduling and booking functions for a variety of patient appointments for designated areas within Radiology. This role requires strong multi-tasking skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Schedule and book inpatient/outpatient/daycare appointments in accordance with established priority levels and medical/technical staff schedules.
- Arrange daycare beds for various procedures, including emergency appointments, and reschedule appointments when notified daycare beds are not available.
- Pre-register daycare patients, obtaining patient information and entering it into the computerized patient database.
- Locate relevant patient information, such as images/films and consultation histories, and process patient data by receiving applicable documentation and completing requisitions/forms.
- Enter booking and image/film information into applicable computerized and/or manual booking systems.
- Register patients, obtaining essential or changed information and entering patient demographic information into the hospital's computerized patient information system.
- Maintain requisitions for all inpatient/outpatient bookings and provide patient waiting list information to the supervisor.
Requirements:
- Grade 12, two years' recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to keyboard at 40 wpm.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada.
