**Position purpose**:
Reporting to the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Law, the incumbent plans, oversees and controls financial, material, physical and IT resources in accordance with the regulations and procedures of the University and other organizations, to ensure optimal resource use. Advises the dean, vice-deans, professors and support staff on section strategies, policies and procedures, including those related to human resources, to allow the section to fulfil its teaching and research mandate.

**In this role, your responsibilities will include**:
Offers sound advice to management using detailed analyses for all resource-related matters, to support Faculty initiatives.

Supervises Faculty financial activities, determines budgetary priorities, conducts financial analyses, proposes strategies and performs budgetary controls, in accordance with the policies and regulations of the University and research organizations. Advises the dean on allocation of human, financial, material, physical and IT resources, in the short, medium and long term. Prepares annual budgets and justifies allocations to the central administration.

Advises researchers and support staff on management of research funds and risks inherent to their projects, to help them achieve their objectives. Interprets regulations and procedures that often limit the University and granting agencies, explains them and ensures researchers understand them, so that the section can comply with them.

Participates in section executive committee work and serves as its delegate to central committees regarding finances and material, IT and physical resources, to ensure the exchange of strategic information. Sits on several faculty or interfaculty committees.

Authorizes section financial and budgetary transactions, whether for the operating or the research budget, including for Canada Research Chairs (2), the Jean Monnet Chair on European environmental law, the University Chair in Legal Pluralism and Comparative Law, and the legal clinic. Takes the necessary action to avoid deficits and ensure balanced budgets in the short and medium term.

Degree in management, with a focus on accounting or finance

Experience preparing, analyzing and managing budgets

Experience in designing, planning and implementing policies and strategies affecting financial, physical, material and IT resources

Experience in project management

Human resources management experience

Customer service experience

Experience in using computer systems and software

Ability to meet firm deadlines

Ability to work autonomously and solve problems

Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and conflict management skills

Bilingualism — English/French (spoken and written)
