**Position**: 6 Month Contract;
**About Us**:
The Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), or The EX as it is also known, is Canada’s largest community event and one of the top five agricultural fairs in North America. Taking place over the 18 days leading up to and including Labour Day Monday, the CNE offers a wide variety of interactive entertainment experiences. Attractions may include concerts, celebrity chef demonstrations, an acrobatic and ice skating show, midway rides and games, a farm, exhibits, food, shopping, and a three-day Air Show. Founded in 1879, the CNE is a cherished tradition for the people of Toronto and surrounding communities and attracts approximately 1.5 million visitors annually.

**Primary Role**:
The Grant Writer will play a crucial role in advancing the Canadian National Exhibition Association's objectives by researching grant opportunities, writing grant proposals, and securing funding from government entities, foundations, and other grant-making organizations. This individual will work closely with the Senior Leadership team to identify funding needs, develop funding strategies, and ensure alignment with the organization's mission and goals.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Conduct comprehensive research to identify potential grant opportunities that align with the organization's objectives and funding needs.
- Prepare clear, compelling, and persuasive grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documents, following the requirements of each grant-making organization.
- Work in conjunction with the Senior Leadership team to develop and implement a strategic plan for securing grants and funding.
- Monitor and manage grant awards, including compliance with grant conditions, reporting requirements, and maintaining relationships with grant-making organizations.
- Collaborate with various departments to gather information necessary for grant proposals and to ensure that the funding aligns with organizational needs and objectives.
- Responsible for the management, sourcing, and timely submission of all grant reporting requirements post-funding, ensuring compliance with donor specifications and maintaining strong relationships with funding bodies.

**What you Bring to the Team**:

- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
- Proven experience in grant writing, with a track record of securing funding from government entities, foundations, and other grant-making organizations.
- Excellent research, writing, and editing skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and persuasive manner.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of the Canadian National Exhibition Association's mission, goals, and objectives, as well as the broader non-profit and philanthropic landscape in Canada.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with the Senior Leadership team and other stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with grant management software.
- Willingness to attend workshops, conferences, and other events to stay updated on grant writing trends and funding opportunities.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard office hours when grant deadlines approach.
