**JOB OVERVIEW**

This position is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding Foundation donors, contributing towards the Canadian Cancer Society’s (CCS) Major Gift Program, within the Leadership Giving Program.

The Manager, Foundation and Grants will work to support the development and management of a robust foundation giving program, raising funds to support vital mission priorities of the Canadian Cancer Society. The Manager will personally manage a portfolio of public, private and corporate foundation prospects and donors and raise $1M+ annually, with a pipeline of $3M+. The incumbent will aim to identify key partnerships to support strategic priorities and, in this way, will work in a collaborative fashion with key mission stakeholders and other members of the Leadership Giving department to achieve the annual fundraising goals.

This position will also work closely with internal stakeholders across the Revenue Development team and Mission programs.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:
**Develops, writes and persuasively communicates the Society’s mission and programs to foundations.**
- Qualifies and manages a pipeline of 150-200 prospective funders nationwide.
- Ensures portfolio is properly balanced for effective moves management. Tracks communications within Salesforce CRM to ensure prioritizing foundations passions through relationship based fundraising strategies.
- Drives the growth of the portfolio and shares in the financial goal for all foundation giving
- Works with the Grant Writer to create coherent, credible and motivating documents to advance CCS priorities with consultation across Canada and other stakeholders.
- Works with multiple stakeholders across CCS to develop compelling proposals.
- Interprets, synthesizes and communicates complex information.
- Ensures multiple, overlapping deadlines are met.
- Ensures consistency and accuracy of information in all deliverables.
- Functions within a team environment, working under broad guidelines.

**Strategy, Planning & Budgets**
- Contributes to the planning process.
- Works with cross-functional partners to anticipate linkages in annual plans to ensure that required resources/deliverables are integrated and supported across CCS teams.
- Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Foundations and Grants, formulates strategies to increase program revenue across Canada through foundations and grants revenue.

**General Duties**
- Attends important fundraising, mission, and regional meetings as required
- Represents CCS with passion and professionalism within the Canadian Cancer Society and externally as required.
- Attends Canadian Cancer Society events as required.
- Actively contribute to our culture of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion by encouraging dialogue that respectfully considers a wide variety of ideas, opinions, and suggestions.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, English or equivalent.
- Experience with proposal writing and case development.
- Superior time management skills with the ability to meet multiple overlapping deadlines.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Experience working in deadline-driven environments.
- Minimum of 5 or more years related experience in the area of communications.
- CFRE designation is an asset.
- Minimum 5-8 years of fundraising and stewardship experience.
- Strong track record of securing individual major gifts in a complex not-for-profit organization.
- Experience using donor database management tools such as Salesforce or similar relationship management system.
- Experience writing about topics in science, healthcare and social sciences is an asset.
- Strong written communication skills; ability to write clear, coherent, structured, articulate, and motivating proposals.
- Attention to detail.
- Advanced computer literacy in MS Office.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated.
- A strong donor orientation and work ethic.
