**Position Summary**

Working within the Financial Services Branch, the Financial Coordinator assists in the co-ordination of accounting functions, financial reporting, and financial planning.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide cost and statistical information for budget development and monitoring.
- Ensure accurate preparation and recording of journal entries in compliance with policy, procedures, generally accepted accounting practices, and legislation.
- Gather data related to budget development, budget monitoring and grant reporting.
- Collect necessary data and financial costs associated to new positions and assessment growth positions.
- Compile and organize multi-year operating and capital budget submissions.
- Track spending of budget exceptions, as well as future cost implications.
- Track expenses offset by revenue and complete associated accounting entries.
- Record year-end projection targets provided by Budget Managers.
- Ensure that HST amounts are recorded correctly, and capital invoices and auction proceeds are coded in accordance with Tangible Capital Asset policy and procedure.
- Balance budget requests (line by line adjustments) to draft budget documents.
- Review and approve accounts payable and accounts receivable batches.
- Assist with year-end processes and gather documentation to support an audit.
- Reconcile employee travel expense claims.
- Confirm that Special Paid Duty amounts are accurately invoiced, received and that members are paid correctly.
- Collect outstanding accounts receivables from customers for Special Paid Duty events.
- Prepare and reconcile the budget transfer log.
- Prepare revenue journal entries associated to cheque deposits, credit card payments and electronic funds transfer payments.
- Record spending on the Headquarters Major Repairs capital project (actuals vs. budget), utilities (G/L vs billings), recording screening (actuals per line item) and balance sheet accounts (G/L vs billings).
- Ensure that amounts being invoiced for secondments are true, accurate and compliant with contract terms.
- Update and edit the signature report, when signing authority changes for Budget Managers.
- Prepare various reports and reconciliations for the Director, Financial Services Branch (e.g., special project tracking, yearly Statistics Canada Report) as requested.
- Maintain a petty cash box and complete cash counts and deposits.
- Assist with budget and accounting queries from Budget Managers.
- Other duties as assigned within the core competencies.

**Requirements**:

- 2-year Diploma in Accounting / Business Administration, or equivalent.
- 2-3 years’ experience in accounting, business, finance, or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving skills and judgement required for problems or situations that deviate from straight-forward procedures on a regular basis.
- Strong communication skills for regular contact with LPS members and external organizations to give, obtain and/or exchange information with tact and courtesy.

**Benefits/Pension**:
Temporary members receive ten percent (10%) of their hourly rate in lieu of benefits (after 120 calendar days) and are also eligible to join the OMERS Pension Plan upon their first day of hire.

**Hours of Duty**:
Day shift; Monday-Friday
