**Salary**: $2,626.89 to $3,448.73 bi-weekly ($68,561 to $90,011/year)

**Role Responsibilities**:
The Policy Advice, Coordination and Engagement unit advises on and coordinates key ministry policy, legislative, governance and strategic engagement initiatives.

Working with the Director of Policy Advice, Coordination and Engagement, and the Senior Advisor, Legislation and Governance, the Governance and Legislative Analyst participates in and supports the coordination of governance activities for the Ministry's public agencies, as well as supports legislative planning and development services for legislative and regulatory projects.

The Governance and Legislative Analyst provides a variety of advisory and governance services to the ministry and its public agencies in accordance with the _Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act_ (APAGA) as well as other applicable legislation and GOA policies. Through research on leading governance practices and process improvements, the Analyst recommends enhancements to ministry and agency processes as well as to build capacity for governance.

The Governance and Legislative Analyst also leads/participates in the Ministry’s process for managing recruitments and appointments to public agencies, including liaising with the Public Agency Secretariat (PAS) to ensure the central coordination of agency appointment and government-wide obligations.

The Governance and Legislative Analyst also contributes to regulatory review projects and drafting of new or amending legislation and decision documents to implement Ministry policies. This position requires strong interpersonal, written communication, and relationship building skills, as the role is very interdependent on successful relationships. Strong organizational skills are essential.

**The Governance and Legislative Analyst responsibilities also include**:

- Following best practices in governance including adhering to legislative requirements.
- Preparing required documentation, including draft Ministerial Orders and Orders in Council for appointments, remuneration and agency establishment and disestablishment.
- Managing projects and developing processes and procedures, reports, briefings, action plans, tools and organizational resources.
- Establishing and overseeing tracking systems and repositories for Ministerial Orders, delegations, and other appointment documents administered by the department.
- Support for legislative planning and development to legislative and regulatory projects; participate in the preparation of required decision-making documentation for new or amending legislation.

**Qualifications**:

- A **university degree** in Public Administration, Political Science or related field is preferred,
- **Plus two (2) years of progressively responsible related experience.**

**_Equivalency:_** Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Experience or knowledge that will be considered an asset**:
