**Job Description**:
**What is the Opportunity?**:
Reporting to and working closely with the Production Manager, this position is responsible for all activities associated with the execution of all performances and events. This role also oversees safety aspects of production and assists in the management of the activities of the production department as needed.

Supervision & Management
- Assists the Production Manager with all production aspects of Koerner Hall and other RCM performance spaces, theatrical equipment, technical support spaces and Performing Arts Department (PAD) related building equipment in the most efficient manner.
- Assists the Production Manager with the management and supervision of crew and determining crew calls with Production Manager.
- Coordinates production personnel and technical specifications with all users (RCM programs, professional presentations and renting organizations).
- Maintains the highest quality services possible for all theatrical and performance events at the RCM.
- Works concerts and events as required, in a schedule rotation with the Production Manager.
- Attends client meetings and advances the shows with tour managers and event planners.
- Helps coordinate the loading/unloading and review of technical riders for incoming shows as directed by the Production Manager, evaluates rental equipment needs in regard to the riders, and develops cost estimates for rentals, labour and materials.
- Serves as an on-site contact for local and visiting technical personnel concerning the proper use of the facilities and theatrical equipment.
- In the absence of the Production Manager, provides on-site production management during event set-up, running and strike, resolving problems as they arise.
- Orders rental equipment as needed and supervises its setup and strike.
- Monitors the condition of equipment and production systems.
- In partnership with the Production Manager, works closely with Royal Conservatory Presents (RCP) team, Events and Facility Rentals team, as well as with the rest of the RCM’s internal departments to develop cost estimates and organize technical services for events.
- Assists the Production Manager in maintaining regular flow of stage reports, daily reports, billing information and settlement information to the appropriate RCM departments and renting organizations.
- Anticipates problems and initiates corrective action, keeping senior management informed of problems of a serious nature or of those having a broad impact.
- Coordinates all production information with all users and all appropriate RCM departments (House, Box Office, Programming, Security, Maintenance, Custodial, Communications, etc.).
- Acts as liaison between incoming production staff and RCM production staff.
- Devises storage solutions for equipment in backstage area in consultation with Production Manager.
- Assists in identifying new equipment needs, and makes recommendations to the Production Manager regarding capital purchases of technical equipment.
- Repairs and maintains equipment in house or with appropriate suppliers.

Invoices, Estimates & Other Financial
- Prepares production cost estimates for events and rentals.
- Schedules and rents production equipment from approved external suppliers to meet event requirements.
- Provides complete and accurate settlement information to event coordinators relating to production costs.
- Assist the Production Manager with production department payroll, coordinates reporting and maintains time sheets.
- Maintains inventory of supplies and replacement items within production/technical budgets.

Policy & Planning
- Assists the Production Manager with development and maintenance of RCM policies, rules and regulations with regard to production operations.
- Analyzes events when required to identify ways to improve overall service standards and operational efficiencies.
- Attends weekly production and other required meetings.
- Works in collaboration with other members of the management team to develop solutions to organization-wide problems and contribute to the achievement of overall organizational goals.
- Undertakes special assignments and projects as directed.
- Performs other role-relevant duties as assigned.

**Job Requirements**:
**What We're Looking For**:

- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the production field, preferably in a Performing Arts Centre or similar.
- Strong leadership skills and prior experience managing and overseeing a team.
- Knowledge of MS Office, Vectorworks and CAD Design software.
- Knowledge of stage and lighting plots.
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Excellent communication, negotiating and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of all types of theatrical equipment, sound, lighting, stage, and IT systems as used in corporate and broadcast events. BSS Soundweb (London Architect), Rigging Controls, and basic Creston knowledge is an asset.
