**Our Team**:
Reporting to the Manager of Labour Relations, you will be an integral part of a dynamic team that is committed to promoting and fostering a consultative and problem-solving approach to Labour Relations matters. You will develop, recommend, implement and evaluate strategies and activities that foster positive and productive labour/management relationships that ensure alignment with the Regional priorities and influence decision-making, by providing informed advice and guidance on approaches to meet business requirements.

**What you will do**:
- You will provide guidance to other HR staff on hiring and employment issues with potential labour relations and legal implications.
- You will have the responsibility of advising management on performance and attendance management issues, human rights complaints, harassment, and workplace violence investigations.
- You will bring your experience conducting investigations, discipline, remedial steps, discipline letters and terminations.
- You will coordinate and chair labour-management and grievance meetings, administer procedures related to settlements, case preparation, and arbitration and rights hearings.
- You will design, coordinate, and conduct training on labour relations, performance management, and impacts of new and or changed legislation and collective agreement language.
- You bring to the table your ability to participate on reorganization, program review, internal audit work groups to identify, advise on, and resolve labour-related issues. Assists clients to implement change initiatives and negotiates agreements with bargaining units to implement same
- We will look to you to organize and coordinate strike plans and business continuity planning, and provide training and communication, work with management to ensure critical services are delivered, and function as rotating strike coordinator including overseeing strike operations committee.
- The requirements for this position would normally be acquired through knowledge of current public sector industrial relations, labour relations, strike/ business continuity planning, case law, collective agreements, employment legislation, and job evaluation and compensation issues, normally acquired through a Bachelor or Master’s degree in labour/ industrial relations or other related field, plus progressively responsible related experience.
- Current knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, collective agreements, Employment Standards Act, Labour Relations Act, Pay Equity Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Human Rights Code. Knowledge of Regional job functions, occupations, and structures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to analyze and understand financial implications of proposals, perform cost calculations, and present same in understandable formats. Ability to conduct fair, objective investigations and recommend consistent remedial action per collective agreements.
- Strong background in facilitation, negotiation, human relations, to foster and maintain relations with unions, mediate disputes, resolutions, and agreements, participate in/ chair negotiations, conduct training and information sessions, represent the Region and liaise with legal during injunctions, use logical, clear, concise language to present and defend the Region's position. et
- Experience with collective agreement language, letters of understanding, reports, discipline letters, and memos.
- Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office.
