Community Standards and Neighborhoods, Transit Peace Officer section is looking for an experienced leader to coach, mentor and lead a platoon of Transit Peace Officers. Reporting to the Operations Manager - Transit Peace Officers, the Transit Peace Officer Superintendent is responsible for the direct supervision of uniformed staff while ensuring that the section's strategic vision, programs and deployment practices are effectively communicated and implemented through frontline supervisors.

- Oversee daily operational activities of a platoon of Transit Peace Officers on a tactical level while ensuring direct supervision of staff
- Oversee attendance at arrest scenes and manage approval/notification processes appropriately
- Provide incident management consistent with emergency management and the Incident Command System
- Communicate and implement administrative and operational strategies related to calls for service prioritization and response
- Implement Transit Peace Officer daily operations in accordance with the City of Edmonton's strategic goals surrounding transit safety
- Manage equipment and fleet requirements
- Recruit, coach, mentor and lead staff, including performance evaluation and management
- Review internal use of force reports and determine if actions were in line with departmental standards
- Provide insight on events and trends of security thus facilitating current and future strategic goals
- Produce and disseminate administrative correspondence including standard operating procedures and recommended policy changes
- Coordinate with the Operations Manager - Transit Peace Officers during major incidents and/or special events
- Act as a liaison to work with and build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Share on-call duties and other related duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of Grade 12 and a recognized Diploma related to Police Studies, Security or Criminology, and a minimum of 3 years leadership and supervisory experience within a recognized law enforcement environment** - OR -**:

- Completion of Grade 12 and 5 years of enforcement experience in a recognized Law Enforcement environment; must have been a serving Police Officer in Canada, or employed as a Peace Officer Level I within Alberta for the past 5 years
- Certificate related to managing people or leadership in the field of law enforcement
- Must possess or be able to obtain the Provincial Community Peace Officer I designation with completion of the Community Peace Officer Induction Program - CPOIP, as well as a Bylaw officer appointment
- Must be able to obtain or have successfully completed the Physical Abilities Readiness Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) within 4 minutes and 45 seconds (4:45)
- Possession of valid Standard First Aid and Basic CPR certificates and AED qualified
- Must have or attain Incident Command System Certificate level ICS-200; current certification in Control Tactics consistent with the Alberta Association of Chief's of Police Use Force Continuum
- Knowledge of applicable City of Edmonton policies, municipal bylaws, Provincial Acts, legislation and policies
- Supervisory experience, including hiring, training, coaching and conducting performance reviews
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to build high performing teams
- Superior decision making and conflict resolution skills are required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to prepare clear and concise investigative reports
- Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver’s permit is a requirement of this position
- Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
