Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting environmental scans of government and industry sources, and analyzing and distributing information to support situational awareness;
- Reviewing and analyzing government positions to determine impacts to the post-secondary system and the University;
- Identifying, analyzing, advising and tracking legislation and bylaws, federally, provincially and municipally, that impact post-secondary education;
- Developing and maintaining contacts within government bodies and relevant government agencies;
- Collaborating with a range of stakeholders to collect information and intelligence that requires action, helps predict future issues or is necessary to frame and inform positions to be represented to government;
- Preparing quantitative data to support a position, as well as to track, report and benchmark an issue;
- Coordinating and promoting organizational awareness and understanding of the key issues and MacEwan's related position at the staff level;
- Preparing materials (e.g., briefing notes, white papers, presentations) for meetings with government officials and partnership organizations;
- Preparing official correspondence to government officials;
- Researching and writing position papers and submissions to the government;
- Coordinating and supporting Ministerial meetings and formal meetings with government departments, and participating in government affairs related engagements;
- Preparing responses to government positions or news releases, coordinating with other stakeholders within the institution;
- Participating in advocacy and issue management activities, like engagement meetings with government officials, and coordinating with other sector stakeholders, such as student groups, on advocacy and communications;
- Implementing and assisting in the development of advocacy initiatives and campaigns; and
- Coordinating and planning events showcasing the institution for government.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- A minimum of an undergraduate degree in the social sciences (political science, sociology, economics), public administration or policy, business administration, journalism, communications or a related field.
