**JOB SUMMARY**: The main responsibilities of the Houseperson are to set up banquet rooms and maintain cleanliness of public areas. Other duties consist of maintaining the cleanliness of the back of the house, other facilities and to assist Room Attendants in maintaining clean and attractive guestrooms, while adhering to company standards.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**: The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining proper cleanliness of guest floors and assisting Room Attendants in maintaining guestrooms to achieve high guest satisfaction.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:

- High School diploma and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.

**TOOLS & EQUIPMENT**:

- Housekeeping cart, vacuum/broom, duster, rags, window cleaner, furniture polish, brass cleaner, all purpose cleaner, disinfectant cleaner, air freshener, toilet bowl cleaner, toilet bowl brush, gloves, dumpster/trash compactor sponge, mops and buckets, keys, hand vacuum, door stopper, floor care products (i.e. stripper, wax, sealer), floor scrubber, floor buffer, Bonnet cleaner, carpet extractor, wet/dry industrial vacuum, extension cord, laundry chute, and elevators.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Long hours sometimes required.
- Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

**MENTAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by co-workers and guests.

**OTHER ABILITIES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE**:

- Bilingual helpful.

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS

**ESSENTIAL**:

- Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with New Castle standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper business attire and nametag when working.
- Comply at all times with New Castle standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Check daily assignments/daily duties.
- Gather all cleaning supplies and return them daily.
- Complete all assigned cleaning duties in designated areas.
- Make deliveries to guest rooms with cots, cribs, fridges, guest request items, etc.
- Report any engineering problems or repairs to the Housekeeping Supervisor or Manager.
- Return any borrowed items (i.e. irons, boards, hairdryers, etc.) to Housekeeping department when removed from guestrooms.
- Vacuum floors in public areas.
- Clean ash urns.
- Service and re-stock housekeeping closets.
- Remove gum, wall spots, and floor spots with appropriate chemicals.
- Wipe glass, pictures, windows, and public telephone areas.
- Clean public restrooms and replace products.
- Complete closet inventory.
- Sign keys in and out
- Sign in and out for scheduled breaks.

**MARGINAL**:

- Gain knowledge of all hotel facilities to answer questions from the guests.
- Perform all other related duties as requested.
- Must have knowledge of proper room cleaning procedures.
- Assist Room Attendants throughout the day with housecleaning rooms when needed.
- Assist Room Attendants by stripping any vacant and dirty rooms when necessary.
- Assist in Laundry.
- Empty Housekeeping carts of dirty linen, trash, etc.
- Assist in floor care.
- Follow all health and safety procedures.
- Other duties as required.
- Log all calls on daily work assignment.

THIS HOTEL FUNCTIONS 7 DAYS A WEEK, 24 HOURS A DAY. ALL EMPLOYEES MUST REALIZE THAT WE SCHEDULE AS BUSINESS DICTATES.
