**Job Description**:
**POSITION PURPOSE**
Reporting to the Manager, Infectious Diseases Control, Vaccine Clinics Program in the Infectious Disease Control Division, is responsible for oversight of the operation of public health vaccination clinics (school clinics, community clinics, influenza vaccination and unplanned/emergency vaccination clinic events OR focused on the delivery of COVID-19 vaccines).; overseeing the coordination of vaccination clinics to ensure smooth running of services; monitoring vaccination practices on site and ensuring the provision of quality services to students and the public; overseeing quality control initiatives to improve services in both quality and efficiency; and ensuring that all data recorded at vaccination clinics is accurate and is handled in accordance with privacy regulations and standards as defined under PHIPA and within Regional Branch and Divisional standards.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Oversees vaccination clinics for assigned area with a focus on operational activities to ensure smooth operation of York Region Public Health vaccination clinics and adherence of staff to assigned roles; clinic coordinator, resource nurse, immunizer and vaccine supply nurse.
- Supervises clinic preparations to ensure that all supplies/equipment are available and delivered to the clinic site as required; ensures adequate staff for clinic operations.
- Oversees and directly observes vaccination practices; makes corrections in procedures and follows-up on gaps in processes and procedures to ensure accuracy in vaccination delivery and associated procedures such as; client assessment procedures, infection control, cold chain, post-immunization observation, etc.
- Oversees quality control initiatives relative to vaccination clinics; oversees implementation of revised processes and procedures; ensures staff awareness of changes and that they have sufficient knowledge to implement changes successfully and with consistency across clinic locations.
- Provides recommendations to management for training and or refresher training for staff, oversees and/or leads training sessions, and updates immunization manual, as appropriate.
- Carries out audits on clinic services such as vaccine handling; infection control; client assessment; consent review; injection procedures; cold chain vaccine processes; documentation and other clinic activities to determine gaps and/or needs for streamlining or changing service delivery.
- Assists the Manager in developing annual business/work plans and in developing service plans and staffing proposals, including participating in clinic supplies projections, clinic equipment needs, vaccine supplies, adequate available casual staff, etc.
- Assists with management of team budget/expense management; monitors clinic expenses and ensures spending within approved budget.
- Supervises staff, including recruitment, selection, hiring, scheduling, assigning and monitoring work, determining training and development needs, coaching and mentoring, conducting performance appraisals and determining/recommending disciplinary action up to and including dismissal in accordance with collective agreements, and Regional policies and practices.
- Ensures that operating staff work in a safe manner and utilize all required health and safety equipment and protective devices and follow all measures and procedures as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and Regional Policies.
- Responds to customer enquiries directly and/or resolves difficult or highly sensitive complaints either verbally or in writing.
- Liaises, fosters and maintains positive relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders, schools, school boards, students, parents and the public.
- Assumes functions of the Manager in that person’s absence, as directed.
- Assumes on-call duties after hours, weekends and statutory holidays on a rotating basis.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience providing immunizations in a public health environment with minimum of one (1) year of direct supervisory or leadership experience leading a team or a large initiative.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Standards, legislation, etc. including the Ontario Immunization Guide, Immunization of School Pupils Act, Ontario Public Health Standards, and Health Protection and Promotion Act and PHIPA.
- Understanding of continuous quality improvement processes/practices as it relates to the clinic environment and clinic best practices service models.
