**POSITION PURPOSE**
Reporting to the Manager, Infectious Diseases Control, is responsible for supervising and coordinating the implementation of the Vaccine Inventory Program and its operations; overseeing vaccine storage and handling, ordering, transporting, and distributing to ensure that vaccines maintain viability and are available to meet demands for services delivered to York Region communities; overseeing vaccine storage and handling protocols, standards, and guidelines, ensuring that clients provided with publicly-funded vaccines adhere to storage and handling standards to protect vaccine efficacy and minimize vaccine wastage; ensuring that vaccine providers have adequate information and are educated on proper vaccine storage and handling protocols; overseeing inspections, audits, and evaluations of publicly-funded vaccines stored and handled at external facilities such as physicians’ offices, community clinics, pharmacies, hospitals, long term care homes, retirement homes, and internal facilities (e.g., vaccine depot, sub-office locations, mass immunization and community hub clinics, etc.); implementing and coordinating quality control and improvement initiatives; ensuring adverse storage conditions are investigated in a timely manner with external and internal clients; and providing accurate and high quality data vaccine inventory reporting, in compliance with Health Protection and Promotion Act, Ontario Public Health Standards, other relevant legislation, and Regional policies, procedures and standards.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Supervises the implementation of the Vaccine Inventory Program to ensure the delivery of high-quality vaccine supply and oversight that fully supports service delivery requirements.
- Supervises the inventory processing and distribution of publicly-funded vaccines to external and internal service providers in accordance with established standards, protocols, and guidelines.
- Oversees ongoing follow-up to ensure that vaccines supplied are stored according to protocols and that annual cold chain maintenance inspections are conducted at all facilities that store publicly-funded vaccines
- Supervises vaccine and supply/equipment ordering, receipt, storage, handling, transportation, distribution, and control related to supply and demand; monitors peak period usage to ensure supply is available to meet demands.
- Identifies opportunities to promote awareness of vaccine products, availability, storage, and handling with appropriate stakeholders.
- Ensures the full utilization and functionality of electronic systems in the management of vaccine inventory to enhance and streamline program service delivery and operations
- Coordinates and carries out continuous quality improvement activities related to the review and evaluation of the Vaccine Inventory Program and its services.
- Monitors and implements protocols and regulations, enacted under the relevant legislations and Acts.
- Ensures the development of quality assurance activities to monitor program effectiveness and support maintenance and continuous improvement of program delivery.
- Oversees data management and metrics, reporting, vaccine usage and returns, vaccine wastage data, etc.
- Supports the development and oversees the maintenance of policies, procedures, processes, guidelines, and templates
- Ensures completion of reports reflecting investigation of issues, processes, outcomes, and recommendations, and implements system changes as appropriate.
- Assists the Manager in developing annual business/work plans and in developing service plans and staffing proposals.
- Provides input into budget and business plan development, budget projections and quantities required.
- Assists with management of team budget/expense management.
- Supervises staff, including recruitment, selection, hiring, scheduling, assigning, and monitoring work, determining training and development needs, coaching and mentoring, conducting performance appraisals and determining/recommending disciplinary action up to and including dismissal in accordance with collective agreements, Regional policies, and practices.
- Ensures that operating staff work in a safe manner and utilize all required health and safety equipment and protective devices and follow all measures and procedures as required by the _Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations_ and Regional Policies.
