Job Summary
The Professional Practice Clinical Mentor role is designed for a registered nurse to provide mentorship, support, team integration, coordination, program implementation and evaluation for HHR programs such as, but not limited to, the New Graduate Guarantee (NGG), the Accelerated Critical Care program (ACC) and the Extern program.
The HHR funding will continue until at least March 31st, 2023.

**PP Leads are responsible for**:

- Supporting staff practice and integration into the clinical area in accordance with organizational and professional standards, alongside the designated mentor and clinical educator.
- Assist in establishing a clear onboarding and education pathway for new staff and mentors.
- Establish a structure for practice area support (e.g., debriefs, check-ins, ongoing laddered education, learning plan creation and evaluation).

**Qualifications**:

- Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Excellent clinical skills and competencies
- Outstanding communication and coaching skills
- Minimum three
- five years recent and relevant clinical nursing experience-preferred.
- Previous experience teaching, working with learners and/or preceptoring required
- Safe Management Group(SMG) training required
- Knowledge and expertise with central venous access devices required
- Knowledge of complex wound care is required
- Demonstrated leadership, change management, and problem-solving skills
- Recent patient care experience required
- Recent acute care experience required
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
- Demonstrates excellent communication skills
- Demonstrates understanding of infection prevention and control practices
- Demonstrates conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrates computer literacy
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all

Primary Responsibilities
- Support integration of new graduate nurses at the organizational and unit level
- Contribute to clinical orientation
- Aid in integration of team processes and role clarity
- Assist new graduates to become familiar with the work in their new area of practice
- Maintain regular unit presence to support ongoing education needs and tracking of required skills attainment
- Provide ongoing monitoring and evaluations of new graduates
- Promote NGG/Mentor staff wellness and team well-being
- Provide support to the Accelerated Critical Care program (ACC) and the Extern program
- Provide educational opportunities such as Detect the Deteriorating Patient course, IV initiation
- Serve as a liaison and conduit between the unit leadership, clinical educator and Professional Practice.
