**Technical Writer - Government of Alberta**

**Position Type: Full-Time**

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and standardize documentation formatting and vocabulary.
- Facilitate requirement gathering sessions through interviews and workshops.
- Produce, validate, and maintain technical and business documentation with stakeholders.
- Revise and enhance web content adhering to quality and usability standards.
- Analyze and improve existing documentation for content clarity and readability.
- Optimize website content for user readability and efficient searchability.
- Implement plain language and design principles for better comprehension of web information.
- Suggest modifications to information architecture where necessary.
- Advise on text integration with multimedia and social media platforms.
- Monitor and document project progress.
- Contribute to various project deliverables as needed.

**Requirements/Must-Haves**:

- Minimum 5 years of technical writing experience with a university degree in computer science, business, or a related discipline; OR
- Minimum 7 years of technical writing experience with a 2-year diploma in the related fields; OR
- Minimum 8 years of technical writing experience with a 1-year certificate in the relevant disciplines; OR
- At least 9 years of technical writing experience.
- 7 years of experience in creating and managing technical and business documentation.
- 7 years of technical writing experience in a government setting comparable to the Government of Alberta.
- 7 years of collaboration with technical experts to refine content and develop visuals/diagrams.
- 7 years of database querying/support with MS SQL or equivalent.
- 7 years of proficiency in Microsoft Visio.
- 7 years of experience with various software development methodologies.
- Demonstrated excellent communication, time management, and analytical skills with specific examples.

**Desired Skills/Experience**:

- Ability to operate independently with mínimal mentoring for at least 3 years.
- 5 years of experience in SQL data querying.
- 5 years of experience with Microsoft Suite, including Visio.
- 5 years of technical writing experience within a government or equivalent complex organization.
- 2 years of experience in the public sector.
- 5 years of experience in making technical or complex decisions without established guidelines.
- 2 years of experience in documenting human capital data processes for workforce analytics.
- 2 years of experience in financial data modelling and associated business practices.
- 2 years of experience in translating technical processes for non-technical audiences.
- Possession of Canadian-related educational credentials or foreign credentials certified by a recognized Canadian authority.

**Key Skills**:

- Expertise in technical writing and documentation
- Proficient in database querying (MS SQL)
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Visio
- Familiarity with GoA Information Security Management Directives
- Understanding of software development methodologies
- Exceptional communication and analytical abilities

**Salary**: $40.00 per hour
