**About Us**:
Within the Ministry of Health, the Pharmaceutical and Supplementary Benefits (PSB) Division provides governance to, and oversees the administration of, the Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan, remuneration systems and claims processing for physicians and allied health professionals, and interprovincial reciprocal financial arrangements. The Technical Writers Team supports PSB to deliver clear, concise, and high-quality information and communications both internally and externally, including to the public. The Team Lead, Technical Writers Team reports to Manager, Policy and Projects of Policy & Divisional Coordination Unit, Divisional Services Branch within the PSB Division. The position is required to lead, mentor and coach unit team members and represent the Branch in the area of communications on branch, divisional, departmental and cross government strategic team. The Team Lead plays a critical role in ensuring that the Policy & Divisional Coordination Unit provides the Executive Director, Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Deputy Minister (DM) and Minister timely and accurate briefings on current and emerging issues, and that issues are effectively communicated and contain input from all appropriate areas.

This multifaceted role encompasses triaging and coordinating written communication requests, providing valuable coaching and mentoring to staff members, and actively participating in strategic teams.

Furthermore, in this role, you will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust communication strategies within the Divisional Services Branch. You will provide valuable advice to Directors and the Executive Director, ensuring effective strategic planning. By conducting thorough analyses, making informed recommendations, and coordinating with other departments, you will contribute to informed decision-making. Additionally, you will create and deploy suitable tools and media to achieve the objectives of the communication strategies.

As a Team Lead, technical writer you will manage communication projects and products for both internal and external audiences within the Branch. Responsibilities include developing communication plans, providing guidance and coaching, maintaining an inventory of key messages, conducting research, coordinating tasks, and making recommendations for further projects. You will ensure timely and quality deliverables while addressing sensitive issues and legal implications.

Key responsibilities involve:

- Assigning and assessing work,
- Fostering relationships with branch managers,
- Developing comprehensive project plans,
- Meticulously reviewing and editing work, and collaborating with various departments to ensure the accuracy and currency of important documents.

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in a related field (Communications and Business) plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

**Required**:

- Expert knowledge of communications theory and best practices.

**Preferred**:

- Experience focused on communication strategy, project management, and business communications/publications.

**Assets**:

- Knowledge of Canadian Press style guidelines.
- Proficiency in desktop publishing, print production, Windows, and Microsoft Office software.

**Skills**:

- Highly developed communication skills (oral and written).
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Motivated, creative, and proactive approach with strong research and analytical abilities.
