We are looking for a motivated Stopping The Violence Counsellor to join our Violence Prevention Programs team

**POSITION FUNCTION**:

- Under the direction of the Manager of Violence Prevention Programs, the Stopping the Violence Counsellor (STVC) will provide Stopping the Violence Counselling to women who have experienced sexual assault, violence and abuse in relationships, or childhood abuses. The service provided will be in response to the diverse needs of women and will include counselling support and psychoeducation, advocacy, and referrals. The STVC will prioritize the safety of women and children and ensure that support provided is sensitive to the social, cultural, linguistic and economic values of women. The STVC will work collaboratively through an Integrated Services Approach with MOSAIC’s Programs and with other MOSAIC service staff.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field, or a combination of relevant education, training, and experience. Those with relevant international education/professional experience are welcome to apply.
- 4 to 5 years of experience working in the anti-violence sector as a frontline worker; strong advocacy skills and knowledge about the justice systems, family law and immigration processes, housing, welfare, and legal aid;
- Knowledge about the dynamics of gender-based violence; anti-violence sector; trauma informed practice; community resources, programs and services;
- Excellent counselling skills, group facilitation skills, advocacy skills and organizational skills;
- Experience in providing individual and group counselling support;
- Experience in developing and delivering women’s support groups;
- Experience advocating with and on behalf of clients, experience working with women of diverse backgrounds and ability to be empathetic and sensitive;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Flexibility/adaptability;
- High degree of self-awareness and commitment to self-care;
- Good communication skills in verbal and written English language;
- Additional language is an asset.

**HOURS**:
**35 hours/week until March 31, 2024 (with a possibility of extension based on funding).

- A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week_.
