**Position Summary**:
The Health Emergency Operations Specialist leads the development and implementation of operational strategies and processes that ensure a timely and effective organizational response to health emergencies. As the organizational champion of operational readiness, the position aligns emergency plans, incorporates lessons learned from recent events, develops vital resources that support both emergent and existing health emergency management needs, and during activations, assumes the role of Operations Section Lead. The role works closely with the Training and Exercise Coordinator, Manager of Health Emergency Management, and the Director of Emergency Management to enhance organizational plans, standards and practices across the FNHA to better support the health emergency management needs of First Nations communities.

**As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.**

**Responsibilities**:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops and implements FNHA’s operations planning to support internal readiness.
- Provides expert advice and assistance to regional teams and First Nation communities in the enhancement of their health emergency management capacity.
- Leads maintenance and development of the FNHA Resource Registrar.
- Leads the maintenance and development of the FNHA Concept of Operations.
- Develops FNHA Response and Recovery Tool Kit.
- Leads the FNHA Liaison role programming to support operational integration between FNHA and the provincial response structure which includes the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre and the Provincial Regional Emergency Coordination Centre.
- Engages with partners such as Emergency Management BC, Health Emergency Management BC and the Canadian Red Cross to align operational activities.
- Represent FNHA in emergency management exercises with external partners.
- Develops briefing notes and preparation of materials to support the FNHA Senior Leadership Team as well as other work areas across the organization.

**Qualifications**:
Education
- A University Degree with specialization in Public Health, Health Sciences, Disaster and Emergency Management, Crisis Management, Adult Education or other relevant health field or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience
- Completion of formal training or qualifications in health emergency management or emergency management is an asset

Experience
- 1-3 years’ recent experience in Emergency Management (preferably within an EOC setting).
- Experience establishing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience leading the development and implementation of emergency management capacity development initiatives for an organization of similar size and complexity.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary senior level managers in the development and implementation of complex projects, processes, and/or services.
- Experience managing service contracts.
- Experience working with First Nations communities and/or organizations is an asset.
