In this role, you will be responsible for the supervision and management of a traditional branch along with alternative services points for the Oakville Public Library**.

**What you'll do**

**As a Branch & Alternative Services Supervisor you will**:

- Lead and supervise a highly functional and service-oriented team focused on creating exceptional customer experiences aligned with OPL’s values.
- Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of a branch, system-wide courier service and alternative service points (OPL Express); including assigning work, coaching, training, evaluating and hiring staff, in conjunction with branch manager
- Assist in the planning and development of branch services
- Interpret and implement policies, procedures and the collective agreement in accordance with legislative requirements and OPL HR manual guidelines.
- Oversee and provide support to employees on customer-related matters, including the resolution of customer concerns
- Oversee day to day service delivery in the areas of information, readers’ advisory services and circulation and ensure they are consistent across the organization and in line with library policies
- Ensure collections are current, well-maintained, and displayed appropriately in accordance with OPL policies, procedures and guidelines
- Supervise the ongoing operation and maintenance of the branch’s physical facility and capital equipment
- Establish and maintain collaborations beneficial to both the library and the community
- Manage projects on system or department specific initiatives including but not limited to working with internal and external stakeholders
- Assist in achieving financial objectives for assigned branch
- Design, implement, deliver and evaluate library programs and outreach for targeted groups that offer information, special skills or entertainment in conjunction with the Branch Manager and the Program Development Department
- Act as the person in charge for the entire branch operations in the absence of the specific branch Manager
- Support the provision of relevant, accessible and high quality customer service initiatives
- Support Manager with system-wide areas such as circulation, materials handling and delivery
- Support the development and delivery of training to support customer service delivery
- Participate in the development of procedures that relate to library operations and services
- Facilitate communication amongst key staff to develop processes that support efficient workflows and daily branch operations
- Collect and analyze key metrics

- Understand and effectively able to implement principles of Every Child Ready to Read ®, Developmental Assets ® and Connected Learning
- Understand branch operations and circulation procedures
- Collect and analyze metrics; assist with report writing as appropriate

**Your experience and educational background**:

- Master in Library and Information Science (MLIS) is required
- A minimum of three (3) - five (5) years of related library work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong knowledge and experience in ILS circulation
- Experience in delivering training for internal clients
- Experience in library programming
- General knowledge of the functions related to 3D printers, RFID, and Microsoft Office
- Experience working in a unionized environment
