The Office of Health Ethics at London Health Sciences Centre invites applicants for a one-year fellowship in Applied Health Ethics starting in Sept 2023. A second-year extended fellowship may be available to the successful fellow.

The Office of Health Ethics provides clinical, organizational, and research ethics support to a broad range of services that include acute care, pediatrics, mental health and addictions, regional cancer and renal services, in addition to primary, ambulatory, and long-term care.

The fellowship provides opportunities to work with our partners including Western University’s Office of Human Research Ethics, The Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, and the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The purpose of the fellowship is to equip future practicing healthcare ethicists with core competencies needed to manage clinical and organizational ethics consultation. This includes providing experience in research ethics and teaching. Fellows are expected to develop one academic paper appropriate for publication during the program. The program will use the American Society for Bioethics and Humanities Core Competencies as a framework for evaluation.

**What we offer**:

- Temporary Full-Time
- Rate of Pay: $25.65 per hour
- Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week
- Duration: 1 year contract

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of a Masters degree in Bioethics or related field
- Preferred academic training and experience in a regulated health profession
- Demonstrated advanced communication skills
- Moderate fluency in basic principles of biomedical ethics, ethical theories, and differing professional conceptions
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence
- Ability to function independently and to provide ethics leadership
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to change
- Advanced ability to handle competing demands with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to contribute to a positive and safe work environment
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to health equity and inclusion
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC

- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
