Under the direction of the HR Manager, the HR Associate will act as a key supportive role for various human resource department functions including reporting, maintaining employee records, recruitment, assisting in the implementation and ongoing administration of an HRIS/Payroll system and providing support in various HR projects and initiatives.

**Role Responsibilities**
- Provide support and backup for recruitment and selection, which can include drafting job postings, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, updating applicant tracking system, coordinating with external vendors and drafting offer letters.
- Assist with and/or coordinate new hire onboarding process - reference checks, new hire orientations and organizing training/communication materials
- Respond to employee requests regarding current policies and procedures and various HR related matters for both union and non-union groups
- Collaborate with Payroll Department to ensure employee changes and information is flowed to Payroll in a timely manner
- Assist with the implementation and ongoing administration of an HRIS/Payroll system
- Extraction of HR metrics from HRIS/Payroll software and export in summarized reports
- Assist with compensation and benefits administration
- Assist with Disability Case Management (non-occupational)
- Assist in tracking grievances
- Participate in the needs analysis, planning and coordination of employee training and development courses
- Handle HR administration requirements under the direction of the HR Manager
- Participate in the design, development, roll out and training of employment policies and procedures.
- Identifies opportunities to streamline or automate processes to continuously improve service delivery

**Required Professional Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications**
- Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources or a related discipline
- Strong working knowledge of applicant tracking systems, social media and recruitment best practices.
- 2-3 years of experience in a human resources associate/coordinator role
- Strong knowledge of employment related legislation across Canada.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience in extrapolating HR data and imbedding into reports is required
- Exposure to disability claims management is considered an asset
- Experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing, and/or construction environment is considered an asset
- High attention to detail and confidentiality
- High level of initiative and ability to work under minimum supervision or direction.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a multi-location organization and problem solve while maintaining flexibility in a fast paced and deadline-based environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration and adaptability are important

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
